Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tamilnadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore has invited applications for admission to following programmes of Academic Year 2014-15.

B.Tech (Agricultural Engineering)
B.Sc (Sericulture)

Agricultural Technology Programs

B.Tech (Food Process Engineering)
B.Tech (Biotechnology)
B.Tech (Horticulture)
B.Tech (Energy and Environmental Engineering)
B.Tech (Bioinformatics)
B.S (Agribusiness Management)
B.Tech (Agricultural Information Technology)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who passed HSC/Equivalent in academic stream are eligible for the TNUA under graduate degree programs

i) Candidates should not have completed the age of 21 years on the first day of July of the admission year (i.e. as on 01st July 2014). However, for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes there is no age limit

(ii) Candidates who studied any one of the following groups are eligible to apply for Faculty of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Home Science

Group I: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Group II: Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any one of the following subjects as fourth (elective) subject viz., Biochemistry or Biotechnology or Microbiology or Home Science or Computer Science

Group II (A): Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology

iii) Candidates who studied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology group or Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science group are eligible to apply for Faculty of Agricultural Engineering

iv) Eligible Minimum Qualifying Marks (Academic Stream/Vocational Stream):

Open Competition (OC): 55% aggregate of all the four subjects

Backward Class (BC) and Backward Class Muslim (BCM): 50% aggregate of all the four subjects

Most Backward Class (MBC) and Denitrified Communities (DNC): 45% aggregate of all the four subjects

Scheduled Caste (SC): A pass in qualifying examination

Scheduled Tribe (ST): A pass in qualifying examination

v) Number of attempts to Pass:

The maximum number of permissible attempts to pass in the qualifying examination is as follows:

1) Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes: Three (03)

2) All other Communities: Two (02)

Selection Procedure:

Application is common for all the degree programs and candidates can choose the program against vacancy at counseling

Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit based on the marks in their qualifying examination and ranked as per the procedure

Single Window counseling system is being followed for all degree programs and campus allotment
Separate counseling will be held for academic and vocational stream candidates. Candidates are called for counseling in the order of merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of the degree and college chosen by the candidate will be made

Candidates have to opt for a degree program and campus that are available at the time of counseling

Application fee of Rs. 625/- (Rs. 325/- for SC/SCA/ST including Bank charge of Rs. 25/-) should be paid to TNAU-Power Jyoti Account at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) by showing the printed challan copy at the bank counter

Enclose the TNAU copy of the SBI TNAU-Power Jyoti account Payment slip along with the filled in online application

Send the same with relevant enclosures to: “The Dean (Agriculture) & Chairman, Admissions, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore-641003”

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore
The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) came into being on June 1, 1971. However, it had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore. In 1920 it was affiliated with Madras University. TNAU assumed full responsibilities of Agricultural Education and Research and supported the State Agricultural Department by delivering research products.
