Wildlife Institute of India M.Sc Wildlife Science Admission 2013

Applications are invited for admission to this two year course in M.Sc Wildlife Science (affiliated to Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat) commencing June, 2013 at this Institute

Seats: 14 meritorious students will be admitted to the course General 06; SC 02; ST 01; OBC 03; Foreign 02

Course Fee: The fee structure for the entire course is Indian Nationals INR 2,60,000/-; SAARC Nationals US$11,000; other Nationals US $ 12,000

The Institute provides full scholarship to eight Indian students based on their selection merit that covers entire course fee, hostel accommodation and a monthly stipend

* Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Medical Sciences, Engineering, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Social Science, Computer Science and Computer Applications or degrees recognized as equivalent thereof (should have studied in Science stream at Higher Secondary Education Board or other equivalent board)
* Minimum 15 years of formal education (either 10+2+3 or 11+2+2)
* Minimum 55% aggregate marks in Bachelor’s degree Candidate must produce result along with mark sheet of their graduation at the time of their personality and aptitude test, failing which their candidature will be treated as cancelled Shortlisted foreign candidates will be interviewed through audio or video conferencing following which their final selection will be made The date and time of the interview will be informed by email Foreign nationals who do not have English as their native language should provide evidence of proficiency in English (TOEFL score) for admission to this course The TOEFL or IELTS score reports should not be more than two years since taking the test to submission of the application A minimum TOEFL score of 213 (computer based), 550 (paper based), or 79 (internet based), or minimum of 6.0 IELTS score is required

Candidates with bachelor’s degree from universities outside India should obtain certificates of equivalence from the Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, AIU House 16, Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg, New Delhi-110002 or email to [email protected]

Age Limit:
The age limit is 25 years as on 11th March, 2013 with relaxation of 5 years for reserved candidates and for those candidates who are working in Forest and Wildlife Departments it is 35 years as on 11th March, 2013

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a written NET in any one of the centres Bengaluru, Dehra Dun, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Guwahati The NET will be for 2.5 hours The test will have 30 marks multiple choice questions on General Awareness including Current affairs, Quantitative Skills, Geology, Geography, Sociology, Economics and Engineering

40 marks multiple choice questions in wildlife sciences including natural history, biogeography, ecology, genetics, vegetation science, population ecology, habitat ecology, behavioural ecology, conservation biology, wildlife health 30 marks essay questions covering conservation issues Shortlisted meritorious candidates based on NET screening will be called to take a personality and aptitude test (PAT) at Dehra Dun Final selection to the course will be made on the basis of combined merit of 50% marks obtained in the bachelor’s degree examination and 50% of PAT

Admit Card: The admit card for entrance examination will be sent to the candidates by speed post

Attested legible photocopies of all the certificates and mark sheets providing proof of eligibility, age of the candidate and certificate if belonging to SC/ST/OBC must be sent along with the application by registered/speed post Candidates who have GPA should provide a certificate from their university on its equivalence in percentage Candidates must highlight aggregate percentage and date of birth in the attested photocopies Three recent passport size photographs with signature of the candidate (besides the one posted on the application form) should accompany the application The application fee for Indian candidates is Rs 300/- paid in the form of a bank draft in favour of Director, Wildlife Institute of India payable at Dehra Dun Application fee is exempted for SC/ST candidates Foreign Nationals are required to pay an application fee of US$ 50 The amount can be transferred electronically to WII account

There are three faculty divisions at WII - Wildlife Biology , Wildlife Management and Wildlife Extension , besides two units, namely Ecodevelopment Cell and the EIA cell. Providing support are Computer Center, Library and Documentation Centre, Laboratory , Herbarium and Audio-Visual Unit.
