The Department of Management Studies at the National Institute of Technology, Trichy (DoMS NIT Trichy), is inviting applications for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program for the academic session 2024-26. Admission will be based on CAT 2023 scores.

Important Dates

  • Last date for submission of the Online application: 16th March 2024, till 6 PM.
  • Interview Dates: First and Second Week of April (Tentatively).

Management Studies

  • The Department of Management Studies at NIT Trichy is a renowned business school with a legacy of 45 years since its establishment in 1978. It holds the distinction of being ranked first among the NIT B-Schools in the NIRF ranking.
  • DoMS is now inviting applications for its full-time two-year flagship MBA program for the academic years 2024-2026, which marks the 46th MBA Batch of the department.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Applicants must hold a full-time regular Undergraduate degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60 percent marks or 6.5 CGPA for Open, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories, and 55 percent or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST candidates.
  • Applicants should possess a valid score in the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021.
  • Students currently in the final year of their Undergraduate course and having cleared CAT 2021 are also eligible to apply.

Other important points to note:

  • Applicants with a previous year’s CAT score are not eligible to apply.
  • The conversion of CGPA to percentage or percentage to CGPA is not allowed.

Application fees

  • For General/OBC-NCL/EWS Category: Rs 1550/.
  • For SC/ST Category: Rs 1050/.
  • The fee payment should be made through State Bank collect mode only. 

Application Process

Candidates can apply through either https://admission.nitt.edu/mba2024/ or https://www.nitt.edu/. They should ensure to check their eligibility and the year of CAT appearance.

Upon completing the eligibility check, candidates need to proceed with the application fees payment via State Bank Collect.

Before initiating the application process, candidates should have scanned soft copies of the following documents in PDF format to upload on the admission portal:

  • Aadhaar card
  • CAT 2021 Score Card
  • Marksheets of 10th and 12th
  • Undergraduate mark sheet or consolidated mark sheet/grade sheet
  • Degree or provisional certificate (if available)
  • Transfer certificate (if available)
  • Category certificate (for OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST)
  • Professional work experience certificate (if applicable)
  • Passport size photo image
  • Signature image of the applicant
  • Fee receipt

If an applicant is awaiting the final exam result, they must submit the latest and all previous semester mark sheets as a single PDF.

Category certificates for OBC-NCL or EWS must be obtained on or after 1st April 2023. In case the certificate is not yet available, applicants can upload an affidavit stating that they have applied for the certificate.

For OBC-NCL, EWS, PWD categories, an affidavit can be uploaded if the applicant has applied for the certificate and is awaiting its issuance.

Selection Process:

The selection process will comprise the following criteria:

  • CAT 2023 score
  • Online Personal Interview
  • Academic performance
  • Professional work experience

Applicants will be initially shortlisted based on their CAT 2023 scores. Shortlisted candidates will then be notified to attend the online interview.

Other important points to note:

  • Candidates with a previous year’s CAT score are not eligible to apply.
  • The conversion of CGPA to percentage or percentage to CGPA is not permissible.
  • The online application fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
  • Candidates applying under OBC-NCL and EWS categories must submit their respective certificates dated from April 2023 to March 2024. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being considered under the OPEN Category for shortlisting and further processing.
  • State-issued Backward Community (BC) or Most Backward Community (MBC) certificates will not be considered for OBC-NCL.
  • Applicants submitting state-issued BC/MBC certificates will be converted to the OPEN category for shortlisting and further processing if they have applied under the OBC-NCL category.
