Applications for admission in the following academic programmes for the spring semester of session 2013-14 are invited:

Ph.D.: Full Time/Sponsored in disciplines of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Applications, Mathematics and Physic, Scholarships to eligible full-time candidates is admissible as per Institute rules

M.Tech.: Full Time in Structural Engineering, Geo-Technical Engineering, Power System, VLSI Design and Embedded System, Computer Integrated Design and Manufacturing, Technology and Fluid Engineering, Iron and Steal Technology, Foundry Technology, Industrial and Management Engineering, Surface Science and Engineering

Admission Process
Admission to Ph.D. Programme will be offered in the following two categories:
Institute Research Scholar (RS) which is stipendiary
Sponsored Scholar (SS) which is non-stipendiary and is only applicable to candidates employed in reputed industry/government organizations/research institutions and with a minimum experience of 5 years

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC is applicable as per Govt. of India rules

Eligibility: Ph.D. Programme may be offered admission, based on certain minimum academic requirements to be satisfied by the candidates as given below

Faculty of Engineering:
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized technical institute or university
Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

Faculty of Science (Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics):
Bachelors and Master’s degree in Sciences in the relevant discipline with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in both Bachelor’s and Master’s levels from recognized institute or university
Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

Faculty of Computer Applications:
MCA /M. Tech in Engineering with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks in Master’s levels from recognized institute or university
Minimum 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST candidates

National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur,earlier known as Regional Institute of Technology was established on 15th August 1960 as a joint venture of Government of India and the Government of Bihar in the chain of REC's (Regional Engineering College) in India with the aim to generate technical graduates of highest standards who could provide technological leadership to the region. It was among the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) established as part of the Second Five-Year Plan (1956 - 1961).
