Admission to MBBS course for 141 seats is through an entrance examination conducted by JIPMER at various centers In addition 4 seats are ear marked for the central pool scheme by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India


Duration of the course is 4 years and 6 months as per the academic calendar of JIPMER followed by 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship

Eligibility Criteria:

The applicant should be an Indian National
He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December, 2013, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S., (they should have been born on or before 01st January, 1997)

Applicant can opt for one center only
Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kolkata, New Delhi, Puducherry, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Vijayawada

Application Form:

Submission through online process only on website
Application fee for General/OBC category Rs 1000/- (SC/ST category Rs 800/-) plus transaction charges as applicable
Payment through computer generated challan form in any branch of State Bank of India

Status of applications and date of hosting/uploading the admit cards on JIPMER website 15th May, 2013
Date of entrance examination: 02nd June, 2013, Sunday, 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Expected date of declaration of result on or before: 09th June, 2013
Allotment of seat by personal appearance: 11th-12th-13th July, 2013
Commencement of course: 15th July, 2013

Jawaharlal Institute of PG Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry
JIPMER traces its origin to 1823 when a medical school called "Ecole de Medicine de Pondichery" was established by French government. In November 1956 the Government of India took over the medical college in the wake of the ‘de facto’ transfer of Pondicherry. The college was upgraded as a Regional Centre and named as Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) on 13th July 1964.
