Eligibility Criteria
For PhD Program:
(i) Candidates seeking admission in this category must not be registered students in any other academic program in India or abroad, and they should not be employed either part-time or full-time by any organization in India or abroad.
(ii) The candidate must hold a master’s degree in science, engineering, pharmacy, agricultural science, humanities, social sciences, or management with at least 60% marks or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0/10 for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 55% for SC/ST/PD. Alternatively, MBBS with MD/MS, BPTh with MPTh, BOTh with MOTh, BVSc with MVSc, BDS with MDS, or equivalent qualifications with similar percentage criteria are eligible. Additionally, candidates with a bachelor’s degree of minimum four-year duration in science, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, veterinary science, agricultural science, or equivalent with at least 70% marks or a minimum CGPA/CPI of 7.0/10 for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and 65% for SC/ST/PD are also eligible.
PhD Program (Sponsored/External/Part-time):
Candidates applying under this category must not be registered students in any other academic program in India or abroad. They must hold a master’s degree in science, engineering, pharmacy, agricultural science, humanities, social sciences, or management with the same percentage criteria as mentioned above. Additionally, they should have a minimum of two years of work experience in industry/R&D laboratories/Academic Institutions after obtaining their qualifying degree. These candidates must also qualify in the written test and/or interview conducted by IIT Jodhpur.
PhD Program (Indian Nationals Residing Abroad (INRA) & Foreign Nationals):
Applications of INRA and foreign nationals will be processed by the departments upon receipt or as per any convenient schedule. Applicants must have qualifications comparable to those admitted in the general category. Departmental interviews via video conferencing will be conducted to ascertain suitability. If selected, candidates will be admitted as Self-Financiand to apply online, pleaseng Students (Full program). Foreign nationals sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Study in India program, or any other GOI programs must apply through specified channels as per their official websites.
Application Process:
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website http://iitj.ac.in/. Applicants should utilize the online application form (https://oa.iitj.ac.in/OA_PG_ADMISSION), which will be activated during the admission period. Applicants shortlisted for the written test and/or interview must bring the final submitted application form duly signed, along with a copy of a valid GATE score card during the written examination and/or interview.
Application Fee:
- For General and OBC applicants: Rs. 300/-
- For SC, ST, and PD applicants: Rs. 150/-
Admission Procedure:
The Academic Committee will shortlist applicants with a strong academic record based on a cut-off of the GATE, CSIR, or UGC score card or equivalent. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for the Written Examination and/or Interview.
Financial Assistance:
Candidates admitted to the Ph.D. Program (Regular) will be eligible for financial assistance as per the norms of IIT Jodhpur. A candidate with a B.Tech./B.S. (four-year program)/Master’s degree with GATE/NET(JRF)/NBHM (or equivalent) may receive financial assistance according to MHRD norms or equivalent applicable for non-science Departments. The requirement of GATE is waived for applicants with an M.Tech or equivalent post-bachelor’s degree.
