About Events

Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind is going to organize a Multi-Disciplinary threeday International seminar on “Sustainable Development in 21st Century: A Glocal Perspective”, from March 19-21, 2015. With the declaration of the decade 2005-14 as the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) by United Nations, a new purpose of Education was signaled out i.e. “Education should be of a quality that provides the values, knowledge, skills and competencies for sustainable living and participation in society and decent work” (UNESCO, 2009). Sustainable development has emerged, in the words of former UN Secretary-General Kofi
Annan, as one of the three great challenges facing the international community in the opening decades of the new millennium. Sustainable development objective can’t be achieved by putting efforts in one direction rather it addresses the interdependencies between social, economic, environmental and cultural dimensions of life. Sustainability balances economic growth, environmental conservation, cultural diversity, psychological and social well-being in a manner that is inclusive of marginalized population and attends to gender issues.
Objectives of The Seminar
=> To reconcile the economic and environmental goals of global community
=> To address the emerging issues and challenges for sustainability
=> To ensure sustainability for socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society
