About Events

International Conference on Indias Northeast and Beyond Challenges and Opportunities organized by Department of Peace and Conflict Studies and Management, School of Social Sciences, Sikkim University Gangtok, Sikkim, in joint collaboration with ICWA and ICSSR, New Delhi which will be held from June 25 2015 to June 26 2015. The prime objective of the Conference is also to promote young researchers to submit their working papers/project reports/case studies as a part of their ongoing dissertations and thesis across disciplines. The interactive mode of Conference is expected to yield useful feedback over the presentations before the inter-disciplinary audience. The following themes are proposed to be discussed at this two days international
conference:
=> Cultural, Political and economic linkages (intra, inter-state and international) of the region to beyond its border
=> Opening the Eastern Gates: A New Development Paradigm for India’s North-eastern region
=> Connectivity between North Eastern Region and neighboring countries : Progress, Opportunities and Challenges
=> Specific initiatives such as Mekong-Ganga Project, BIMSTEC, BCIM, Triangular trade linkages and enlargement of free trade area etc.
=> Cross-Border trade, infrastructure building (logistics, shipment, transit trade) and investment potential in the North-East region
=> The North-Eastern Region in India’s Foreign Policy : Implication for India-ASEAN Relations
=> India’s Foreign Policy to East through Northeast: Geopolitical Imagination and Ground Realities.
=> Assessment of development and growth in the Northeast region: prospects and potential.
