The West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) Kolkata conducts West Bengal Post Graduate Dental Admission Test (WBPGDAT) regulations for admission to Master of Dental Surgery (MDS Course) for the admission session. Eligibility Criteria

  • Open Category A :
    - Candidate who have passed secondary or equivalent and/or, higher secondary or equivalent and BDS from the institutions in West Bengal
  • Open Category B :
    - Candidate who have passed both of the examinations secondary or equivalent and higher secondary or equivalent from the institutions outside the State of West Bengal but passed BDS from the institutions in West Bengal.
  • Open Category C :
    - Candidate who have passed secondary or equivalent and/or higher secondary or equivalent from the institutions in the State of West Bengal but passed BDS from outside the state of West Bengal:-
    a) Passed BDS from college outside the State of West Bengal in India
    b) Passed BDS from colleges outside India
  • Open Category D :
    - Candidate claiming permanent resident/domicile of West Bengal but did not pass Secondary or its equivalent and Higher Secondary or equivalent and BDS from school and college of West Bengal:- a) Passed BDS from college outside the State of West Bengal b) Passed BDS from colleges outside India
  • Open Category E :
    - Govt. doctors other than WBDS/WBDES with BDS degree from any University working in West Bengal in any department including Central Government.
  • In Service Category : Candidate who is in regular Govt. service in WBDS/WBDES in West Bengal for 3 years or more (material date 31.3.2017).

For State Government Sponsored Seats:
- Candidates applying for the Govt. Sponsored seats must be is in regular Service of the Govt. of West Bengal under the Health and Family Welfare Department and is sponsored by the WBDS/WBDES, Government of West Bengal shall be eligible to apply for admission even if such candidates obtained their BDS degree from any other Institution located outside the State of West Bengal, which is recognized by DCI

Application Fee

=> The online WBPGDAT 2017 Examination fee can be submitted through net banking or credit/debit card system through an online interface available at WBUHS website

=> If the candidate wants to submit the requisite fee through offline mode he/she can do so with system generated e-challan. The fee can be deposited in any branch of United Bank of India (UBI) with the print out of the system generated e-challan; for offline and online payment Rs.40/- will be paid for bank charges

How to Apply

The candidates who wants to appear in WBPGDAT 2017 , can submit their application form from the offical website. here we are providing some instruction regarding how to apply for WBPGDAT 2017.

  • Go to the official website
  • Click on WBPGDAT 2017 Notification.
  • Read the notification carefully.
  • Fill up application form with correct information.
  • Upload scanned documents if required
  • Make payment of application.
  • Submit your application form.
  • Take print out of your application form.

A printed hard copy of the filled in application form and photocopy of required is to be submitted; fee of Rs.3000/- (Rupees three thousand only) must be deposited through online/offline mode as described in Annexure-III Send the duly filled application form along with application fee and required fee by hand or through speed post to WBUHS on or before last date of applications.

Exam Pattern

The question paper for the written test shall be set in English and shall contain 100 single best response type Multiple Choice Questions.

The following is the list showing the tentative number of questions from different subjects which will be set in the written test:

  • General & Oral human Anatomy, General human Physiology, Biochemistry, Dental Materials, General & Oral Pathology and Microbiology, General & Dental Pharmacology and Therapeutics, General
  • Medicine, General Surgery, Community Medicine- 40 nos.
  • Prosthodontics, Crown & Bridge, Conservative Dentistry including Endodontics, Pedodontics, Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Medicine (Oral Diagnosis) and Radiology- 60 nos.

The duration of the written test will be 80 minutes.

A candidate will be awarded four 1 marks for each correct answer. No mark will be deducted for incorrect answer or multiple answer. No mark will be awarded for un-attempted answer

General category candidates are to secure minimum 50 marks, SC and ST candidates have to secure 40. For PC candidate General Category and SC/ST category has to secure 45 and 40 respectively for getting eligibility. There is no OBC including OBC-A, OBC-B seats earmarked till now. But seat allotment will go to PC candidate if roster point of 100 point roster is satisfied.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

Cutoff

The cut off score depends on difficulty level of exam, availability of seats, number of applicants, etc. Based on the cut-off score examination authority prepares the merit list and candidates are called for counselling.

Results

The candidates are required to enter their respective WBPGDAT 2017 Roll Number for checking their result and downloading of their scorecard. The result will furnish the rank secured by the candidates. Based on the result of WBPGDAT and the cutoff screening, eligible candidates would be selected for the next round of selection process. The selected candidates would be enlisted in a merit list and will be called for counselling cum allotment on the basis of appearance in the list
