The entrance examination for admission to the State Government approved three year masters degree MCA courses in State of Maharashtra for the year. MAH MCA CET conducted by the Competent Authority appointed by Government of Maharashtra. The information brochure for admission is available on website. The brochure gives the rules and information regarding the eligibility for admission to first and second year of three year full time post graduate degree course in MCA in various institutes in Maharashtra. These rules govern the aspects of the CAP and it also gives the rules and information regarding distribution of seats, types of candidates, reservation of seats, fees concession offered to eligible candidates, details of the admission rounds, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The basic eligibility for candidates applying for this course is Bachelors degree of minimum three years duration recognized by Association of Indian universities (AIU) with minimum aggregate of 45 percent marks with mathematics or statistics as a subject in class 12 level examination.(40 percent in case of SC/ST category candidates).
  • Candidates who have passed post graduate degree exam of two years recognized by Association of Indian universities (AIU) with minimum aggregate of 45 percent marks with mathematics or statistics as a subject in class 12 level examination are eligible to apply. (40 percent in case of SC/ST category candidates).
  • Candidates appearing in final year of qualifying exam are eligible to apply and will be admitted provisonally.

How to Apply

  • MAH MCA CET 2017 Availability of Information Brochure along with Application Kit: The Director of Technology Education, Maharashtra State, Mumbai continues the system of online receipt of application form for MCA for the year 2017-18
  • Maharashtra MCA Application Kit for the aspiring candidates will be available at the select Axis Bank Branches mentioned below only during working hours of the respective Axis Bank Branches as per schedule (excluding Public Holidays) against the payment of the application form processing fees Application fee for open category candidates from Maharashtra State, Outside Maharashtra State (OMS), J&K Migrant candidates and NRI/Foreign National/Foreign Students/PIO/Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries Candidates Rs.750/-.
  • Candidates of backward class categories (SC/ST/VJDT/NT (A)/NT (B)/NT (C)/NT (D)/OBC/SBC) belonging to Maharashtra State only Rs.550/-
  • Maharashtra State and J&K Migrant candidates who wish to apply against OMS based are required to purchase only single MHA MCA CET 2017
  • Application Kit; this is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances

Exam Pattern

MAH-MCA-CET 2017 will be conducted Online at all examination centers which will include multiple choice objective type questions (MCQs), using standardized equivalent - percentage method, will be equating scores across session

The question paper for the CET will be set in English only. Translation in any other languages will not be available. Maharashtra online CET 2017 would be comprised of two online papers of 100 Marks each of 45 minutes duration

Maharashtra MCA Online CET 2017 Entrance Exam duration is 90 minutes viz, General Aptitude (GA), Computer Concepts (CC)
MHA MCA CET 2017 will have Negative Mark system. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark. Unanswered questions will carry zero marks

The syllabus & sample question paper are available on the website and also in the online brochure. Each paper has 25 questions and is expected to be completed in 90 minutes

Syllabus

General Aptitude:

The objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue computer applications and software profession.

The questions in this paper will consist of logical reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics, vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability.

Mathematics

Algebra

Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, factorization, Quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, binomial theorem, permutations and combinations.

Co-ordinate Geometry:

Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid point, intersections etc., equations of a circle, distance formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.

Differential Equations:

Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.

Trigonometry:

Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, height and distance, inverse function.

Probability and Statistics:

Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distributions, curve fitting, and principle of least squares, correlation and regression.

Arithmetic:

Ratios and proportions, & problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage, etc.

Set Theory and Functions:

Set, relations and mappings.

Mensuration:

Areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes and surface areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.

Computer Concepts:

Computer Basics:

Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input / output devices, computer memory, memory organization, back-up devices.

Data Representation:

Representation of characters, integers, and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, signed arithmetic and two's complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, normalized floating point representation, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

Computer Architecture:

Block structure of computers, communication between processor and I / O devices, interrupts.

Computer Language:

Assembly language and high level language, Multiprogramming and time sharing operating systems, Computer Programming in C.

Operating System basics:

Multi programming and timesharing operating systems.

Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.

Cutoff

The cut off score depends on difficulty level of exam, availability of seats, number of applicants, etc. Based on the cut-off score examination authority prepares the merit list and candidates are called for counselling.

Results

The candidates are required to enter their respective MAH MCA CET 2017 Roll Number for checking their result and downloading of their scorecard. The result will furnish the rank secured by the candidates. Based on the result of MAH MCA CET and the cutoff screening, eligible candidates would be selected for the next round of selection process. The selected candidates would be enlisted in a merit list and will be called for counselling cum allotment on the basis of appearance in the list.

Counselling

Candidates who are qualified in Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test will be called for the counselling process of MAH MCA CET 2017.
