Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Examination (KEAM)

KEAM (Kerala Engineering, Agriculture and Medical) is a state level entrance examination for the admission to Admission to Professional Degree Courses in various colleges in Kerala. The KEAM is conducted by the CEE (Commissioner of Entrance Examination) Kerala. The examination is also known as the CEE Kerala exam. Besides Kerala, it is also conducted on the various test centres like Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi, Shillong and Dubai (UAE). KEAM !year is conducted for the admission to various UG courses like MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BSMS, B.Sc (Forestry), B.Sc (honors) agriculture, B.VSc (animal Husbandry), B.FSc and B.Tech (in all regular branches including agriculture, food engineering and dairy science and technology).

Admission Procedure

Admission to Engineering courses shall be regulated on the basis of merit as assessed by giving equal weightage of 50:50 to the marks obtained in the Entrance Examination for Engineering (Paper I & Paper II put together), and the grade/marks obtained for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together in the final year of the qualifying examination, after effecting the standardization procedure as described in Clause 9.7.4(b), for computing the Index mark out of 600. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology, the marks obtainedin Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the mark list obtained from the Board of Examination of respective Higher Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.

For admission to the Architecture course, the merit as assessed by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the ‘National Aptitude Test in Architecture’ [NATA], conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA), and the grade/marks in the qualifying examination will be the criterion. [As per directives of the Council of Architecture, India.]

Admission to Medical courses, Agriculture, Co-operation & Banking, Climate Change & Environmental Science, B.Tech Biotechnology (Under Kerala Agricultural University), Forestry, Veterinary and Fisheries courses are regulated on the basis of merit as assessed in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG !year) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Admission to the B.Pharm course is regulated on the basis of marks obtained in the Paper-I (Physics & Chemistry) of the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination and the rank list prepared based on this as in clause 9.7.4(f).

Eligibility Criteria


  • Only Indian Nationals are eligible for admission
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can also apply
  • Candidates seeking admission to Professional courses will be categorised as Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) and Non-Keralite Category II (NK II).


  • Medical & Allied Courses: Candidates who have passed +2 or equivalent examinations, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together.
  • Engineering courses: Candidates who have passed +2 or equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Architecture course: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate. OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) with 50% aggregate marks.


  • Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on the 31st December 2019.
  • No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed.
  • There is no upper age limit for KEAM–!year.

How To Apply

Online Submission of Application: Online submission of application through the website is required to apply for admission to all the courses (MBBS, BDS, Other Medical & Medical Allied courses, B. Pharm, Engineering and Architecture).

Application Fee

Candidates referred to in Clause 5.4.2 (d), who are children of Inter-Caste married couple of which one is SC/ST who will be eligible for educational and monetary benefits admissible to SC/ST as per Clause 2 (ii) of G.O. (MS) No.25/2005/SCSTDD dated 20.06.2005, should mention the same in the form meant for it. They should upload an inter-caste marriage certificate from the Tahsildar to the online application.

Online Payment: The fee may be paid by credit card/debit card/Internet Banking

E-chalan: In case of payment through e-chalan, the payment can be made in the designated Post Offices in Kerala, in cash.

b. There are 5 steps for the online submission of application and all the steps are mandatory. Candidates should complete all steps including uploading of the necessary certificates and documents on or before the last date notified for the same.

Examinations Venues

Entrance Examinations will be held at the selected venues in all Districts in the State, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai.

No request for change in the Examination centre will be entertained.

Admit Card KEAM !year

(a) The Admit Card for the Entrance Examination can be downloaded from the official website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, . The candidates will have to enter their Application number and password provided in order to download the admit card. They will have to take a printout of the admit card. Admit cards will not be sent by post from the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. The venue of the examination and time table will be noted in the admit card. Separate notification in this regard will be issued.

(b) Rejection memo will be issued to candidates whose application has been rejected.

(c) No memo will be sent by post in the case of defective applications. The defects in the applications will be displayed on the homepage of the candidate portal. Defects if any, should be rectified within the dates specified in the notification pertaining to the download of admit cards.

(d) All candidates whose application has been accepted should download their admit card well in advance. A candidate who does not possess the Admit Card will not be admitted to the Examination Hall under any circumstances.

Important Points

  • For Engineering and Medical Entrance Examinations, each Paper will have 120 questions to be answered in 150 minutes.
  • For each correct response in the Engineering and Medical Entrance Examinations, the candidates will be awarded FOUR marks
  • For each incorrect response, ONE mark will be deducted from the total score.
  • For No response, there will be no deduction
