All India Bar Examination (AIBE)

The All India Bar Examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from the academic year 2009-2010 onwards. Candidates may apply to appear for the All India Bar Examination only after enrolling as an advocate under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961 and will have to submit suitable proof of such enrolment along with the application form for the All India Bar Examination (details to be provided in the application form).

The All India Bar Examination is conducted across the country simultaneously. Candidates are free to choose an examination centre of their convenience, and will also receive printed preparatory materials to assist them in preparing for the All India Bar Examination. Application forms for the All India Bar Examination will be available at all State Bar Councils.

The All India Bar Examination will be conducted in nine languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Oriya and English and the preparatory materials provided to each advocate will be in the language in which they choose to appear for the All India Bar Examination.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria required to appear in AIBE 2017 are mentioned below.

  • Candidate must be India citizen.
  • Candidate has to qualify their LLB Degree (either 3 years or 5 Years).
  • Candidate has to be registered as an advocate professional with any State Bar Council.
  • Candidates have to submit the suitable proof of the enrollment.
  • There is no limit to appear for the All India Bar Examination.

Application Fee

Application Fee is Rs. 2500 + Rs 60 as bank transaction charge.

  • Candidates can apply All India Bar Examination 2017 by "Online" only. The All India Bar Examination (AIBE IX) is going to be held in the Month of March 2017.
  • The Registration Process for AIBE IX is open. Candidates who wish to apply for AIBE (9) need to registrar themselves before applying online
  • To registrar, visit AIBE Website. After successful AIBE Registration you can login to your account

Mode of Application

How to Apply

  • Fill up your Personal, Educational and other Information on this link then click Finish Button
  • Registration Number and Password of your Account is generated and will be sent back to your e-mail ID
  • Now click ‘Login button on AIBE Site and enter your Registration Number and Password. Then get printout of your Challan Copy
  • Deposit Fee only on the said printed challan at any branch of SBI after 24 hrs. of registration
  • After 24 hrs again Login to your account and take a print of the application form, written down Journal number provided by SBI on it send its hard copy along with requisite documents at BCI
  • Complete the application form and send it to "All India Bar Examination" Bar Council of India, 21 Rouse Avenue Institutional Area, ITO, Near Bal Bhawan New Delhi-110002

Exam Pattern

Candidates have a choice of 11 languages to attempt the examination in their preferred language. AIBE (X) 2017 will be an open book exam. It means that candidates can bring any study aid or reading material like as textbooks and treatises, AIBE Preparatory Materials, and even handwritten notes. The question paper will be composed of 100 multiple choice questions spread across various subjects. There is no negative marking. The questions asked in the examination will be divided into ‘knowledge-based’ and ‘reasoning based’. The time duration of the examination is maximum 3 hours 30 minutes.

The examination will be divided into two categories (I and II).The Examination paper will comprise at least seven (7) questions from each ‘Category I’ subject. The paper will also have twenty-three (23) questions from the ‘Category II’ subjects as a whole, and these twenty-three questions will include questions from at least five (5) Category II subjects. Category I subjects will be tested in Part I of the question paper, and Category II subjects will be tested in Part II of the question paper. Admit Card / Hall Ticket

The candidate should verify all the information in the admit card. If any issue is found, then get it corrected with the concerned authority.

The candidates are required to carry the admit card to the examination hall. Without it, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. It is also very important to document for the further admission processes.



The AIBE 2017 result will be declared through online process in the official portal. All the candidates who passed this entrance exam will receive a Certificate of Law Practice. There is no provision of declaration of the percentage, percentile, rankings, or absolute marks.


Candidates who are qualified in All India Bar Examination will be called for the counselling process of AIBE 2017.
