This is applicable only to candidates applying in the Regular and Full-time category as institute fellows. A valid GATE score is a pre-requisite for Institute Fellow (IF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PhD in Engineering:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For admission to the PhD Programme in Engineering Department, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates with an M.Tech.\/M.E. degree in Engineering\/Technology, with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering\/Technology (from any Institute other than IITs) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 8.0 or 75% of marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70%.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PhD in Science:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For admission to the PhD Programme in Science departments, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M.Phil. or Master\u2019s degree in Science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Engineering\/Technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering\/Technology from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in a related area in Engineering\/Technology (from any Institute other than IITs\/IISc) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 8.0 or 75% of marks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For admission to the PhD Programme in the department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M.Phil. or Master\u2019s degree in Arts\/Commerce\/Science in a relevant area with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in Engineering\/Technology\/Design in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering\/Technology (from any Institute other than IITs\/IISc) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% marks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Direct Admission (Waiver of Written Test):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For candidates in Sciences, Engineering &amp; Technology, exceptionally bright students may be admitted directly (without a written test) into the Ph.D. program. Eligible candidates meeting the specified criteria may be considered for a waiver of the written test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Candidates are advised to apply only online through IIT Patna&#8217;s website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After payment, a reference\/journal number will be generated, which must be mentioned in the application form, along with the printed e-receipt of payment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The application cannot be modified after submission, so review your application before submitting it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Fee<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For GEN\/EWS\/OBC-NCL (for Male): Rs 1000\/-<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For SC\/ST\/PwD (for Male): Rs 500\/-<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>GEN\/EWS\/OBC-NCL\/SC\/ST\/PwD (for Female): Rs 500\/-<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mode of Payment: Online through SBI Collect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Selection Procedure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute reserves the right to call a limited number of candidates for a test\/interview based on various criteria, including performance in GATE\/NET, grades\/marks in the qualifying examination, and shortlisting criteria.
