Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must have a Master’s degree or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks.
- Applicants who have completed their MPhil course work with at least 55% aggregate in aggregate or its equivalent grade are also eligible to apply for the Ph.D. Admission 2022.
- Applicants must have a valid score in the PhD Entrance Test (PET) conducted by SPPU.
- Selection of applicants will be done based on their overall academic profile and marks secured in PhD Entrance Exam 2022.
- Candidates who have appeared for UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE can also apply for the admission process.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the Savitribai Phule Pune University at unipune.ac.in.
Step 2: From the homepage, click on ‘PhD Admission Process 2022’.
Step 3: Register by entering the details as required and click on submit to continue.
Step 4: Login by entering your registration details.
Step 5: Fill up the application form for Pune University PhD Admission 2022 and pay the application fee.
Step 6: Review your application to prevent any errors and submit the same to complete your Pune University Ph.D. Application Process 2022.

Before filling the online application please check the vacant position for admission.
Required documents : Candidate shall enclose the following documents along with the hard copy of Application:
a) Universif copy of Bank Challan.
b) Attested photo copy of Marks Statement of Master’s Degree.
c) Affested photo copy of the Caste Certificate in case of Reserved Category Candidates (if applicable).
d) Attested photo copy of the Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon in case of Persons with Disabilities (P.H.) candidates (if applicable).
e) Document required for exemption from Paper – I :
Attested photo copy of supporting documents & certificates in case of candidates exempted as per University Circular No.21712014 dated 2811112014 (as mentioned in exemption Clause No. 2 (a)
i Attested photo copy of GATE /GPAT/SET/I{ET/JRF/SRF Certificate.
ii. Attested photo copy of M.Phil. Degree Certificate.
iii. Attested photo copy of previous PET Paper-l Result.
iv. Exemption under University Approved Teachers:
- J years experience certificate as an approved teacher of affiliated college/recognized institution concerned with attested photo copy of Teacher Approval Letter issued by Savitribai Phule Pune University.
- Appointment letter in case of Teachers of University Departments.
- Teacher Approval from any other University will not be considered for exemption.
v. Attested photo copy of Leaving Certificate or any other relevant documents in support of date of birth in case of Senior citizens.
vi. In case of Advocate/Doctor/Artist/lndustry Professional/Employee of Government, Semi-Government Organization etc. attested photo copies of supporting documents & certificates which are required to prove that conditions prescribed for the relevant Faculty as mentioned in Schedule of CircularNo.21712014 are fulfilled.
Incomplete applicationsiapplications without required documents/ applications submitted after the due date will be rejected without assigning any reason/s and no correspondence will be entertained by the University in this regard.
The PET examination will be conducted in English language for all faculties, except for subjects in the faculty of Arts, Fine Arts & Performing Arts, Mental Moral & Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Physical Education and Geography in the Faculty of Science, examination will be conducted in English as well as in Marathi.
Online registration process will be treated as completed only after receipt of a Hard Copy of an application along with necessary documents & certificates.
Candidate shall fill the online application and send a hard copy of the Application along with above mentioned documents by Speed Post
Exam Pattern
For Entrance Examination, there would be two papers i.e. Paper-l and Paper-2. Paper-1 would be General Aptitude Test of 100 marks and Paper-2 would be Subject-wise/Facultywise Test of 100 marks.
Paper 1: General Aptitude Test which will have 100 questions with multiple choice covering Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Language Aptitude.
Standard of Passing: Candidate who score 50% and more will be declared as passed (45%for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/DT/NT/SBC/OBC categories). The list of successful candidates in Paper 1 will be declared faculty-wise and such candidates will be eligible for Paper-2.
Paper 2: Subject Specific Test: This paper will be of 100 marks. Paper-2 Examination will be conducted only by the respective University Departments/Research Centres authorized for the purpose.
- 20 marks will be allocated for 20 objective – multiple choice questions covering relevant subject in the Faculty.
- 80 marks will be allocated for theoretical descriptive questions.
- Teachers of the respective University Departments/Research Centres will decide the nature of theoretical questions and weightages to be given out of 80 marks on various components of theory questions such as descriptive questions, case study, comprehension, essays, etc.
- The syllabi of various papers covered under different Boards and Faculties will be decided by the teachers of the respective University Departments/Research Centres and the same will be notified at least 30 days before the date of the examination.
