Eligibility Criteria
- Climate Science and Technology: Candidates should hold a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in M.Sc. or equivalent in Atmospheric Science, Marine Science, Oceanography, Meteorology, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics, along with a valid GATE score.
- Structural Engineering: Applicants must possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Civil Engineering, along with a valid GATE score.
- Transportation Engineering: Candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Architecture, or Planning, along with a valid GATE score.
- Environmental Engineering: Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemical Engineering, along with a valid GATE score.
- Water Resources Engineering: Candidates should possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Agricultural Engineering, along with a valid GATE score.
- Geotechnical Engineering: Applicants must have a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Civil Engineering, along with a valid GATE score.
- Electronics & Communication Engineering: Candidates should hold a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or related fields, along with a valid GATE score.
- Power System Engineering: Applicants must possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related fields, along with a valid GATE score in Electrical Engineering.
- Computer Science and Engineering: Candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Computer Science & Engineering or Information Technology, along with a valid GATE score.
- Power Electronics and Drives: Applicants must possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related fields, along with a valid GATE score in Electrical Engineering.
- Metallurgical and Materials Engineering: Candidates should hold a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Ceramic, Chemical, Mechanical, Production Engineering, or related fields, along with a valid GATE score. Alternatively, a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in M.Sc. in Materials Science, along with a valid GATE score, is also accepted.
- Mechanical Systems Design: Applicants must possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, along with a valid GATE score.
- Thermal Science and Engineering: Candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, along with a valid GATE score.
- Manufacturing Engineering: Applicants must possess a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, or related fields, along with a valid GATE score in Manufacturing Engineering/Production Engineering.
Application Process
To apply for the M.Tech. program, follow these steps:
- Access the online application form through the website http://webapps.iitbbs.ac.in/mtech-application/.
- Register on the online portal using your current functional Email ID.
- Log in to the portal using the Email ID and password provided during registration.
- If you are a female candidate, no application fee is required. Simply print the application form for future reference.
- If you are a male candidate, proceed to pay the required application fee as follows:
Application Fee:
- General, OBC, and EWS Candidates: Rs. 300/-
- SC/ST/PwD Candidates: Rs. 150/-
Payment Mode: SB Collect.
Selection Process:
- Regular candidates will be shortlisted based on their GATE score.
- Cut-off scores for different categories will be determined according to institute norms.
- Selection of regular candidates involves:
- 70% weightage for GATE score.
- 30% weightage for performance in the Written Test and Interview.
- The final selection is based on combined scores, with 70% weightage given to the GATE score and 30% weightage to the written test and interview marks.
Reservation:
- Reservation policies for SC/ST/Other Backward Class – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)/Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)/Persons with Disability (PwD) categories will follow Government of India rules.
- Certificates for these categories must be submitted in the format specified by the Government. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates issued on or after 01.04.2023 by the Competent Authority in the prescribed format must be uploaded in the online application form and submitted at the time of admission.
