Courses Offered

  • Bachelor of Fishery Science B.F.Sc. (Nautical Science)
  • Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) / Marine Fitter Course (MFC)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science) : 10 + 2 with minimum 50% marks in all subjects of PCB or PCM and only pass in 10 + 2 with PCB or PCMis enough for SC/ST and the candidates, who are appearing for 10+2 exams during 2022 are also eligible.
  • Age limit : 17 to 20 years as on 1st October, 2022 (max. age for lateral entry – 22 years)

Application Process

  • Application form and Prospectus can be downloaded from CIFNET website: www.cifnet.gov.in and applied with necessary documents.
  • Filled in application along with necessary documents like marksheet (SSLC/HSC), community certificate if SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS and also the receipt/UTR number generated for the payment of application fee through online must be sent to “The Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016 “.

Application Fee

  • For BFSc(NS) : Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250/- for SC/ST
  • Mode of Payment : Cash and Demand Draft

Selection Process

  • For BFSc(NS) : Based on MARKS obtained in 12th Standard.

CIFNET, the erstwhile Central Institute of Fisheries Operatives, was thus established in 1963 at Kochi on the recommendation of above committee to meet the trained manpower needs of ocean going fishing vessels and that of fishing industry. Subsequently, a unit of CIFNET was established in Chennai in 1968 and another unit at Vizag in 1981 to cope up with the addition requirements due to expansion of fishing fleet/industry of the country.
