Food Service Management and Dietetics is the management of all establishments where food is served and dietetics is the profession concerned with the science and art of human nutritional care. The course thus ensures wholesome food service in health and disease. Since its inception in 1975, the department of Food Service Management and Dietetics offers courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including a post graduate degree course In Food Service Management and Dietetics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics In 1987, programmes in M.Phil and Ph.D in Food Service Management and Dietetics were started.

Dietetic and Catering internships are offered as a part of the curriculum at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to give on the job training. The students use the labs for standardization of the recipes and quantity cookery. The research scholars use the foods lab for research purposes.
