The Department of Business Studies in collaboration with the Faculty of Commerce and Management of The IIS University organised a two days National Conference on Indian Business World: Challenges and Opportunities on Friday. The keynote speaker on the occasion was Mr Kishore Chainani, Vice
President, Banking and Finance Services, Genpact.
The conference commenced with the welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Dr Ashok Gupta. He welcomed the chief guest as well as research scholars, subject experts, industry experts and student participants. Prof. M.K.Sharma, Dean, Department of Commerce and Management apprised the gathering with the aims and objectives of the conference.
Keynote speaker Mr Chainani in his deliberations discussed the changing and emerging trends in the business world. According to his, the business world scenario is changing very fast. Big will not eat small anymore, it will be the fast beating the slow.
“Globalisation and opening up of markets have not only increased competition but also has allowed companies to operate in markets previously considered forbidden, he said”.
While focusing on youth Mr Chainani informed that being connected, mobile, transient, tech focus and goal oriented are five traits of millennials that are driving change in the workplace.
Mr Chainani has also shed light on organisational culture which is a system of shared assumptions, values and beliefs which govern how people behave in the organisation. According to him, culture guides employee decisions, both technical business decisions and how they interact with others.
He concluded his deliberation by saying that it’s all about relationships in the business world.
The first technical session General Management was chaired by Prof. Ravindra Vinayak, Director, Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research. Dr Shweta Ahluwalia from Champions of change and founder and owner of Suvasa Ms Oona Singh were the invited speakers.
The second technical session of the day was based on Marketing Management wherein Prof. H J Ghosh Roy was the chairperson and Dr Pramod Paliwal from the Central University of Gujarat and Prof. Gurucharan Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala were the subject experts.
