16th Annual Art Exhibition ‘Abhivyakti Ek Prayas’ concluded

The 16th annual art exhibition Abivyakti Ek Prayas…organized by the students of Department of Visual Arts of The IIS University concluded on Wednesday. The five days long exhibition inaugurated at Jawahar Kala Kendra on Saturday.

At least 170 students from all the semesters in bachelors and masters of visual arts have exhibit their talent. Students have put together their hard work and talent to showcase their best in various visual art forms including mosaic, applied, compositions, wood art, still life, mural, illustrations, caricature, sculpture, drawing, tempera, print making, poster ad, designs, book covers etc under the guidance of visual arts experts of the university.

“Almost 8000 art lovers have not only visited the exhibition but also applaud the students for their creativity and vast knowledge about the various art forms. Some of the professionals have also offered jobs to the students to work with them and showcase their talent”, Shwet Goel, Head, Department of Visual Arts, said.

The aim of the exhibition was to showcase the artwork of students to the art lovers and professionals so that the students can interact with them about their work and have a greater understanding of the art forms.

Various campaigns on social issues were the centre of attraction for the visitors. Signage made by Nitika Khandelwal, Mitali Jain and Prachi Singhvi had also got attention of the art lovers.

    Drishti a creative expression by the students of GIM The students of Goa Institute of Management (GIM) organized Drishti, exhibition of photographs at its campus in Sanquelim recently. The exhibition showcased photographs in four categories – Landscape, Portrait, Abstract and Table Top (Food Photography). The photography exhibition is a creative expression which arose out of the activities of the student group Sprockets who are dedicated to learning photography and film in addition to their business management diploma at the Goa Institute of Management.

    Education Research Development Center (ERDC) inaugurated at Chitrakoot

    Blind People's Association (BPA) and Ahmadabad Education Society (AES) has collaborated to form Education Research Development Center ( ERDC) at Chitrakoot. It will be inaugurated by Swami Rambhadracharya. The center contains physiotherapy school, industrial training center, distance education center and an exhibition of goods. The center is formed with a vision to develop new technology for visually impaired people.

    International book fair INBOFA 2012 is being organized for promotion of serious readership among book lovers. It attracts sellers, buyers, publishers, distributors, readers, authors, editors and the general public to one location. A variety of programs has been organized at the book fair such as theme based discussions, seminars, workshops, authors' meet, book launching, book reading sessions ,cultural events, literary events to attract book lovers to the fair. The fair will start on 13th January 2012 and conclude on 23rd January 2012.
