Biz Quest 2016 organised by S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics was a resounding success with enthusiastic participation challenging round and exciting prizes won by some of the leading institutes in Goa.
National Institute of Technology winner of Biz Quest walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The Second place winner Goa Institute of Management was awarded Rs 40,000, followed by Rs 30,000 for the Third place to Bits Pilani. First consolation prize of Rs. 20,000 was awarded to IHM, Goa, Second consolation of Rs 10,000 was awarded to V M Salgaocar college of Law and a Third consolation prize of Rs. 5000 was awarded to Goa University (Department of Management Studies).
The annual event brought together students from colleges and B-schools from Goa as well as other states for an afternoon of fierce intellectual competition and offered the audience an engaging and knowledgeable experience. This year the quiz was conducted by well-known quizmaster and the winner of various business quizzes Harshvardhan Bhatkuly who is also an alumnus of the college. Harshvardhan is also the editor of Business Goa, the state’s only business magazine.
Each team consisted of two members, who represented their Institution. The quiz was conducted in two rounds i.e. the elimination round and the on-stage round. The elimination round consisted of a written test and determined the six highest scoring teams to qualify for the on-stage round. The six on-stage rounds included the general round, visual round, specialised areas, connect round, audio- visual and finally the buzzer round.

Additionally, we are thrilled to let all of you know that we will be shifting to a brand new state- of- the- art campus in Cujira. I congratulate Principal RadhikaNayak, staff and students on completing 50 years which is a significant milestone for the college.”
On the fiftieth year as S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics celebrated its Founder’s Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Founder Late Padmashree Shri. Vancatexa (alias Vasantrao) Srinivassa Sinai Dempo, one comes to realize how single initiatives can go on to become a legacy.
The celebrations began in the institution with the garlanding of the bust of the Founder followed by the award distribution ceremony to meritorious students and performance in co-curricular activities awarded at the hands of the Chief Guest, Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo in the presence of the Principal Radhika Nayak, faculty members and students. The celebration also witnessed the release of the Interdisciplinary Research Journal of the College - ‘Anushandhan…. Enquiry towards excellence!’.
The institution was founded by late Padmashree Shri. Vancatexa (alias Vasantrao) Srinivassa Sinai Dempo, in the memory of his revered father the late Srinivassa Voicuntrao Sinai Dempo
