S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics hosts Cultural evening for the Alumni

In view of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, a cultural evening was organised recently at Kala Academy open air auditorium. The evening was a treasured memory for many as classmates and teachers were seen greeting each other and reliving the memories lost in the sands of time.

The evening had a variety of programmes chalked out, to take a walk down memory lane along with the Alumni of the college. The cultural evening began with the inauguration of the photo exhibition depicting the journey of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics through the 50 Glorious
years it has served society. The photo exhibition evoked memories that were treasured in the minds of many.

Along with a pictorial revival of memories, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics released a special souvenir celebrating 50 Glorious years of the institution. The souvenir contained special messages from eminent dignitaries, on the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college. A combination
of articles written by the alumni and photographs of several treasured moments makes this edition special. Another notable and special feature of the souvenir showcases the name of every single student has passed out from the doors of the college.

The cultural evening then began with an atmosphere of excitement, since various entertaining acts were lined upfor the evening. The host Abhijit Ghoshal, a renowned singer and winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, welcomed the Alumni and also enthralled the audience with his melodious performance. The
students of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics put up various performances to keep the audience entertained. The alumni were also kept on their toes with exciting games and spot prizes. The cultural programme ended with a beautiful performance by renowned Bollywood actor and Alumnus of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Varsha Usgaonkar. The evening ended with an interactive Gala dinner for all those present for the evening.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the college, Mrs. Radhika Nayak said, “It is my extreme honor this evening as SS Dempo College of commerce and economics celebrates 50 years with all those who have become our brand ambassadors, they are our alumni. It is because of all the people who have gone ahead and all who are there presently, that Dempo college is what it is. Hardly had I imagined when I was student of Dempo College that one day I will be principal of SS Dempo College of Commerce up there on Althino. But the day has come, and I am here and I am grateful for that. I thank all my staff members, for their co-operation.  We may not be there when the college is celebrating 100 years, but definitely, they will look back and say that in the 50th year all of you were here in this evening to celebrate the 50 years of the college.

S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics was founded in the year 1966 and is celebrating 50 of imparting education to the students of the state Generations of young educated minds have passed out through its doors and reflect the excellence of education they have attained in the institution. S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics was the first institution to offer higher education in Commerce, which was then established in the newly liberated Union Territory of Goa, Daman and Diu. The institution was founded by late Padmashree Shri. Vancatexa (alias Vasantrao) Srinivassa Sinai Dempo, in the memory of his revered father the late Srinivassa Voicuntrao Sinai Dempo. It is currently managed by the Dempo Charities Trust. The college lays equal emphasis on the all-round development of the personality of the students who enter its doors.
