With the student community gearing up for various college events, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics hosted a one-of-a -kind event in the state, especially for the teaching community. S. S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics hosted the unique inter-college cultural festival for college teachers, ‘Guru Srujan’, recently at Taleigao Community Centre. The event was part of the on-going Golden Jubilee Celebrations at Dempo College.
Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao were declared as the winners of Guru Srujan the unique inter-college cultural festival for college teachers, Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem bagged the second place and Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer & Management, Porvorim were awarded the third place jointly.
The one of a kind event was conceptualised by Principal Bhaskar Nayak, who is also the Director of Higher Education, Govt. of Goa. “The Event of ‘Guru Srujan’ was organised to bring the community of college teachers in the state together to have an interactive and fun-filled day, which showcased their creative intelligence and talents. It gave the institution immense joy to host the event this year, and we hope it will be a day to cherish and remember”, said Radhika Nayak, Principal of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics.
Chief Minister of Goa, Laxmikant Parsekar said, “I am very impressed to see the turn out of teachers who had come to participate in Guru Srujan. It feels good to see the teachers who have the responsibilities to make the young generation responsible have come together to share their ideas and meet each other. It is a good platform for them as they can take back a lot of memories and ideas back to their institution.”
Pallavi Dempo, Trustee, Dempo Charities Trust said, “I am really impressed with the management who had taken the responsibility to bring out such a good event for the teachers as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. This event will give them the opportunity to showcase their talents and ideas.”
S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics hosted the second edition of the event, as they commemorate 50 years of imparting education to young minds of the society. Over 20 colleges participated in the event, which made it an exciting event to look forward to. ‘Guru Srujan’ had an amazing line up of events planned. The events for the day first commenced with an icebreaker, followed by the ‘Eye Spy’, a treasure hunt event and the melodious event ‘Voice of Srujan 2015’.
These events were followed by ‘Fatashyo’ (Boasting), ‘Capture it’ which was a photography event, ‘Bas Ek Minute’ (Ad mania) and ‘Satrangi’ (Rangoli). The list did not end there, the last set of events comprised of the entertaining dance competition named ‘Any Body Can Dance’ (Group Dance), a fashionable treat was given with the event called ‘The Walk’(fashion show) and ‘Cover me Up’ (Package designing) tested their creative skills.
