Chowgule College, Goa’s premier education institute, organized its annual Graduation ceremony at its campus in Gogol, South Goa for the graduating batch of 2014 – 2015. Students turned graduates received the coveted degrees in Bachelors of Science and Arts, Honors and Post Graduate degrees after having completed three years of excellence in academics. A total of 276 students receive the coveted degrees.
The ceremony was presided over by Chief Guest Mr. R Sridhar, Coach and Partner, Ideas-RS who delivered the graduation address. Also present at the occasion were Principal Dr. R.V. Gaonkar, Officiating Principal Dr. N.N. Sawant and Vice principals Dr. E.M. Travassos and Prof. Nadkarni, students, parents and faculty members of the institute.
R. Sridhar is an Innovation Coach, who helps people benefit from the power of ideas. He helps them choose the right challenges, generate alternative ideas, select ideas smartly, develop them into powerful solutions, and coaches them through to implementation. His consulting firm IDEAS-RS was born in 2000.
Sridhar had a distinguished career in Ogilvy & Mather for 25 long years. He started India’s first Direct Marketing agency. Subsequently he also set up Ogilvy Consulting. He was a Director of Ogilvy & Mather India, when he decided to set up his own innovation practice in 2000. One of his most recent achievements is to create an iPhone/iPad app called TickleMeThink that helps people to think differently.
The Convocation ceremony began with a report on the institute’s performance highlighting the achievements of the institute during the last academic year. Mr. R Sridhar delivered an inspirational graduation address by sharing incidences from his life which have been turning points in his life.
A total of 276 students were awarded their degrees at the graduation ceremony. The Hira Wagh Award for the year 2014-15 was presented to Shweta Gaonkar for her excellence in all round development. The Deans of Sciences and Languages, Ms. Ananya Das and Dr. Gunaji Dessai as well as the Dr. G. K. Naik, Coordinator for Post Graduation Programs, Dr. Travassos, Dean of Social Sciences and Monica Shatriya, Course coordinator for Television production and broadcasting pronounced the programs.
Over the years Chowgule College has earned the enviable reputation of being one of the finest
graduate degree schools in the state. Chowgule College presently boasts of an excellent infrastructure and the best talent that make up the core faculty. The College was recently granted Autonomous status by University Grants Commission and Goa University in August 2014. It will begin functioning as an autonomous college in the academic year beginning June 2015, enrolling the first batch of students under a new curriculum. The college also recently got accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a cumulative grade point average of 3.41 out of 4, which is the highest for any college in Goa.
