The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains is the gateway to India’s premier engineering institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other government-funded technical institutions. Each year, millions of students from all over India take the JEE Main in hopes of securing a spot in one of these prestigious institutions.
JEE Main 2024 was held between 24 January and 01 February 2024 for session 1, Between 04 and 15 April 2024 for session 2 by NTA. JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam administered by the National Testing Agency. Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main
To be eligible to take the JEE Main, students must have passed their class 12th examination, or an equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their main subjects. Additionally, students must have scored a minimum of 75% marks in their class 12th examination, or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
Preparation Tips for JEE Main
- Understand the Exam Pattern and Syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern and syllabus of the JEE Main to get a clear idea of what to expect on the day of the exam.
- Time Management: Create a study schedule and stick to it. Make sure to allocate enough time for each subject and practice as many previous year question papers as possible.
- Focus on Conceptual Understanding: Instead of just memorizing formulas, try to understand the concepts behind them. This will help you solve problems more effectively.
- Practice, Practice, Practice: The more you practice, the better your chances of success. Solve previous year question papers, take mock tests, and practice sample papers to get an idea of the level of difficulty of the exam.

JEE Main Exam Pattern
The exam pattern is as follows
- Mode of Exam –
- Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
- Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
- Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode only.
- Question type – The questions are Objective Type – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Questions for which the answer is a numerical value.
- Exam Duration – The entrance exam is of 3 hours for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) or Paper 2A (B.Arch.) or Paper 2B (B.Planning.), 3.5 hours for B.Arch. & B.Planning (both).
- Language of Question Paper – The question paper is in language English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
