Google GetSocial Competition: IIT Patna finishes among top 3

Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IITP), Patna stood among top 3 teams at the Google GetSocial Competition at National level.

Google GetSocial is a social media marketing challenge organised by Google India. Around 37 institutes participated in this event including the IITs and IIMs (Indian Institute of Management)

    Google India to educate UP women about Internet

    Internet giant Google will launch a two-month Internet education campaign to reach around 5 lakh girls and women across Uttar Pradesh. The main theme of this campaign is to make them digitally literate. The campaign was inaugurated in the presence of women's movement "Gulabi Gang" leader Sampat Pal. "The two-month Helping Women Get Online campaign (HWGO) in Uttar Pradesh aims to create awareness about the benefits of Internet for women and assist them to get online through basic knowledge on how to use the Internet," Google marketing director Sandeep Menon told reporters.

    Patna University to go paperless for exams

    Patna University has been planning to implement paperless exams from next session in its ambitious modernization steps. Patna University has already introduced computerized evaluation from this year for degree examinations. According to the Vice Chancellor, Shambhu Nath Singh, the university will be setting up a large hi-fi examination hall with a seating capacity of 6000 students. Each seat will have iPad fitted in it. The iPad will record the answers and upload to central server for evaluation purpose.

    IIT Bill passed by Parliament, now students to get degrees by IIT

    Parliament has passed a bill that will make way for existing six IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) to grant degrees to the engineers that pass out. The Institute of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010, along with the National Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Bill, 2010, was passed by the Rajya Sabha by voice vote Monday. Both the bills have already been passed by the Lok Sabha. The bills were pending in the Rajya Sabha.
