211 students receive the coveted degrees at the Chowgule College Graduation Day 2014

Chowgule College, Goa’s premier education institute, organized its annual Graduation ceremony at its campus in Gogol, south Goa for the graduating batch of 2013 – 2014. Students turned graduates received the coveted degrees in Bachelors of Science and Arts, Honors and Post Graduate degrees after having completed three years of excellence in academics. A total of 211 students receive the coveted degrees.

The ceremony was presided over by Chief Guest Yannick Colaco, Managing Director, NBA India who delivered the graduation address. Also present at the occasion were Principal Dr. R.V. Gaonkar, Vice Principals Dr. Sawant and Dr. Travassos, students, parents and faculty members of the institute.

An alumni of the college, Yannick Colaco has risen up the ranks in the field of sports management. Prior to taking up the task at NBA India, Yannick Colaco was associated with Nimbus Sport as its COO. During his tenure with the media company, he managed and executed a number of sports properties for the organization including multiple global cricket events, the world’s first field hockey league and India’s biggest golf event .

He has also worked with IMG, where he worked on India's first ATP Tour Event and the Asian PGA Tour Events. Yannick Colaco has now been given the task to popularize basketball in a country that is obsessed with cricket and within his first year of joining, has had tremendous success in driving the growth and fan base of the NBA- through partnerships with large corporate brands like Sony, Coca Cola, Reliance Foundation, Jabong and Adidas. Colaco holds a degree in Economics from Chowgule College.

The Convocation ceremony began with a report on the institute’s performance highlighting the achievements of the institute during the last academic year. Yannick Colaco delivered an inspirational graduation address by sharing incidences from his life in college and on the sports field which have been turning points in his life. A total of 211 students were awarded their degrees at the graduation ceremony. The Hira Wagh Award for the year 2013-14 was presented to Sukanya Chari for her excellence in all round development. The Deans of Sciences and Languages, Dr. Dilip Tikare and Dr. Gunaji Dessai as well as the Coordinator for Post Gradation Programs, Dr. Nandini Vaz and Coordinator of the Honors Program Dr Travassos pronounced the programs.

Over the years Chowgule College has earned the enviable reputation of being one of the finest graduate degree schools in the state. Chowgule College presently boasts of an excellent infrastructure and the best talent that make up the core faculty.
