Smt. Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao

The Television industry in India is growing at a rapid pace generating numerous jobs for skilled young people. For a qualified person it also offers excellent remuneration. Unfortunately, Goa and Goans are inadequately represented in the national media despite their natural flair for communication.

With a view to help tap into this job market, Chowgule College will be conducting a Workshop on Television Broadcasting on Wednesday 30th April 2014 from 10 am to 12 noon at Tigers Studio on the Chowgule College campus. Participants will try out TV news reading using a teleprompter, shooting and editing news stories and experience a live demo of chroma screen technique. The workshop will include industry information on careers in TV Broadcasting. This free workshop is open to all to get a taste of the exciting world of television.

The workshop is also a curtain raiser for four certificate courses in TV broadcasting (of one year duration each) scheduled to start at Chowgule College this June. The courses are unique in their design and are completely hands-on. Students get to use the latest equipment at the state-of-art Tigers Studio and will focus on actual projects rather than lectures or classroom teaching.

Students of these courses will be interacting with senior professionals from national and international networks who will mentor students as visiting faculty. These include David Butler (Producer, BBC), Jonathan Flowers (Video-editor, Anglia TV, UK), Krishnendu Bose (award winning documentary film maker), Prashant Tandon (formerly with India TV, IBN7 and Star News), Ravinder Bawa (AajTak, Headlines Today), VK Shashikumar (CNN-IBN, NewsX) and several others. Placement at reputed TV channels and production houses will be facilitated by the college. Students will be assisted in preparing professional show reels and special training for handling interviews.
