Punjab UIET to accept GATE store for ME and M Tech admissions

Punjab University Institute of Engineering and Technology (PUIET) will be accepting GATE score for admissions to Master of engineering (ME) and Master of Technology (M Tech) courses. This system will be applicable from current session itself.

Earlier, PUIET used to conduct a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to its Post Graduate programmes.

Candidates applying should also have secured 60% of marks in B.E/B.Tech.

GATE 2014 exam is being conducted online from February 2 to March 2, 204.

About GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering)

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India entrance for admission to Post Graduate Programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy at the National level. The exam is conducted and administered jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology with financial assistance provided by National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Prominent PSU 's like BARC, NPCIL, HAL etc. give importance to GATE scores for various job positions in their organizations.

    All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE ) had come up with the unique idea to conduct Common Management Aptitude Test ( CMAT ) for admission to all AICTE approved management colleges for MBA courses and post graduate diploma in business administration. It was a great move as students had to appear for one single exam and not multiple exams. But the idea was challenged in court, thus AICTE will be conducting the regular CMAT exam in the year 2012 and students will have to appear for multiple entrance test.
