Law School, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to introduce new courses

The Law School at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will introduce 5 year BA LLB course, one-year LLM and several diploma courses. All these new courses will commence from 2014-15 academic session.

The new one-year diploma courses include diploma in mass communication and media laws, information technology law, forensic science and medical jurisprudence, tax management, human resource management services and industrial law, and corporate governance. These courses are being introduced in view of their increasing demand.

The Law School is already running 3-year LLB and 2-year LLM programmes. The two-year full time LLM course in Human Rights and Duties Education was introduced in 1998-99.

    Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India's premier university, organised its 96th convocation ceremony on Amphitheater Ground on Thursday 27th March 2014 Degrees were conferred upon 10,757 students and 29 meritorious students were awarded medals on the occasion. Padma Vibhushan Dr. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics was the chief Guest. While delivering convocation address, Dr. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar emphasised that education and research should go together.

    BC Nirmal, Head and Dean of BHU faculty of law has been nominated to the executive council of Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA), Asia-India. CLEA is a charity formed in 1971 to foster high standards in legal education and research in the Commonwealth countries. It has regional chapters and committees in South Asia, southern Africa, west Africa, the Caribbean and the UK. It organises conferences, moots, newsletters, letter series, curriculum development and activities for students.

    World class stem cell research to come at BHU

    Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will be setting up state-of-the-art Stem Cell Research and Bone Marrow Transplantation Centre in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. "There are not many centres in the country that carry out such stem cell research. In Uttar Pradesh, though there is sporadic research going on, no such organized state-of-the- art facility is available," said Prof Lalji Singh, vice-chancellor, BHU.

    Banaras Hindu University (BHU) releases dates for PMT 2012 examination

    BHU to hold All India competitive written test for admission in MBBS course in two stages , PMT 2012 Screening and PMT 2012 Main while only 2012 PMT Screening will be held for admission in BDS, BPharm and BAMS. PMT 2012 screening will be done on 16th May 2012 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad centers. PMT 2012 Main exam will be held on 17th June 2012 at Varanasi center only.     Karnataka government has decided to introduce CBSE syllabus for 11th standard students for the academic year 2012 – 2013 while 12th standard students will have state board syllabus. The move was taken to groom students at par with the different competitive examination .
