BC Nirmal, Head and Dean of BHU faculty of law has been nominated to the executive council of Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA), Asia-India.
CLEA is a charity formed in 1971 to foster high standards in legal education and research in the Commonwealth countries. It has regional chapters and committees in South Asia, southern Africa, west Africa, the Caribbean and the UK. It organises conferences, moots, newsletters, letter series, curriculum development and activities for students.
BC Nirmal obtained Maters Degree from Banaras Law School in 1974. He has recently been awarded Life Time Achievement Award by All India Teachers' Congress and Indian Intellectual Council (Bhartiya Vidwat Parishad) for his contribution to the field of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law. He has been Founder General Secretary of the All India Clinical Law Teachers Conference and Treasurer of B H U Teachers's Association for five years. His original contributions in the areas of International law, Human Rights, Humanitarian law, Refugee Law, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Consumer Protection etc. have been sufficient enough for him to be acknowledged as a distinguished legal scientists of India and has won the respect of legal scientists both in India and abroad.
