Mahindra Group forays into engineering education with Mahindra École Centrale

The Mahindra Group entered into ever growing educational sector with an Engineering institution named 'Mahindra École Centrale'. This institute is in collaboration with École Centrale Paris and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad. École Centrale Paris is one of the most prestigious engineering institution of France.

Vineet Nayyar, Executive Vice Chairman, Tech Mahindra said, "It is a proud moment for us to have launched Mahindra École Centrale today. Tech Mahindra enjoys a leadership position and operates in various industry segments. We recognize the critical need to transform engineering talent into business leadership, in a globalized world. Mahindra École Centrale will provide apprenticeship with collaboration from the Industry, focus on humanities, international exposure and allied education to develop a ‘whole-brain-approach’ to business."

Dr. Rameshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of JNT University Hyderabad said,“The emphasis on modern education and strong support by Andhra Pradesh government will help develop a large and talent-rich pool of technology professionals. This initiative by the Mahindra Group will not only help us impart quality education of global standards but also help Andhra Pradesh to become India’s advanced technology corridor.”

    Tamil Nadu government strongly protested to the move to conduct an All India Entrance Test for admission to UG/PG (Under graduate/Post graduate) courses in medical colleges. Tamil Nadu wants that it should be exempted from the test and allow to continue with its existing system for admission to Under-graduate/Post-graduate medical seats. She has strongly protested the unilateral decision of the central government to notify National Board of Examination (NBE) to conduct entrance test for courses in medicine.

    Anand Mahindra, the managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Anand Mahindra has been nominated as new chairman of Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I). Jhunjhunwala had succeeded Bharat Forge Ltd chairman B N Kalyani as IIM-I chairman in 2007. Appointment of new chairman is done through the ministry and the matter is further discussed in meeting of the board of governors. Subsequently, appointment is confirmed. There are 16 members in the board of governors in the institute and 15 in the society of the institute.
