Chowgule College to organize Geographize 2013

Panjim, 25th September: The Geography Department of Chowgule College will organize the annual inter-collegiate event 'Geographize' which aims to enhance geographic skills through different activities. This year eight colleges will participate in this annual event which will be held on 26th September 2013.

Various colleges across the State will be competing in different competitions which include geographic model-making, posters, creating newsletters, a geograpahy quiz, video documentation and treasure hunt among others. The events are designed to help to develop skills of map reading using GPS system, model-making and also debates on current issues like gender inequality and coastal environmental disasters.

Dr. Nandkumar Sawant, Head of the Geography Department and Vice Principal, said “The Department of Geography at Chowgule College is the only institute that provides higher education at PG level and six units in Geography, we take the responsibility of popularizing the subject and make students feel the relevance of geographical knowledge in present day context.”

  Chowgule College, Goa’s premier education institute, organized its annual Graduation ceremony at its campus in Gogol, south Goa for the graduating batch of 2013 – 2014. Students turned graduates received the coveted degrees in Bachelors of Science and Arts, Honors and Post Graduate degrees after having completed three years of excellence in academics. A total of 211 students receive the coveted degrees.

  Workshop on preparation of UGC National Eligibility Test in Geography at Chowgule College

  To prepare students for NET/SET and Civil Service Examination in Geography,the Department of Geography at Chowgule College, Margao will be organising a workshop on Preparation Of UGC National Eligibility Test In Geography from 19th Experts with rich experience in teaching and research in Geography will be sharing their knowledge. The sessions will cover important subjects such as Geomorphology, Climatology, Environmental Geography, Oceanography, Geographical Thought, Geography of India, Regional Planning, Population Geography and Socio-Cultural Geography.

In order to help students make a better choice for their future, Chowgule College a NAAC accredited institute will be organizing its annual Chowgule College Open Day for students and parents. The 3rd edition of Chowgule College Open Day will be held at two locations this year which includes the Chowgule College campus on 12th May and 18th/19th of May at Kala Academy in Panjim as part of Edunext 2013.
