With the healthcare industry in India valued at well over Rs. 150,000 crores and witnessing a phenomenal growth over the last two decade, there has been a greater interest in specialized management development programs aimed at the industry. GIM has filled in this gap with the PGDM – HCM program.

The PGDM Healthcare Management (HCM) program which will be conducted from GIM’s Ribandar campus has been designed along the lines of the best healthcare management programs in the world, under the guidance of senior industry and academic experts. The program provides participants an in-depth exposure to various facets of the healthcare delivery process, the economics of health (different payee – payer- provider models), understanding hospital services, planning and delivery, and quality management in healthcare.

Says Dr. Sunil Rai, Director, GIM,

“Healthcare, as an industry in India has grown to become one of the most promising and progressive sectors in recent times. Obviously it needs better and effective management of the sector to reveal optimum results and opportunities. Realizing the potential and needs of this sector, Goa Institute of Management has designed a post graduate diploma in healthcare management – the PGDM – HCM program – which has opened its door to students from this academic year.”

Added Professor Ajit Parulekar, Dean, HCM, GIM,

“There has been a tremendous amount of thought and planning which has gone into creating this program. Inputs and guidance was sought from senior management and industry leaders from the industry coupled with research and analysis on the sector. What has resulted is a comprehensive, effective and specialized healthcare management program which is the only one of its kind in the country”

Said Sudarshan Jain, Managing Director, Abbott Healthcare India

, “Goa Institute of Management has designed this great initiative for the future health managers who would bring sunrise in this industry. This programme by GIM is going to bloom the Indian health sector and would be the centre of attraction to many. We are in the right industry because we are in the profession of bringing life and joy to others. Healthcare has contributed to bring happiness around.”

The steering committee which has offered valuable insights on the industry include industry leaders and senior management heads from leading companies including Johnson & Johnson Medical, Wockhardt Hospitals Limited, Cognizant, Abbott and others.
