Pranab Mukharjee directs governors to address faculty shortage issue

Pranab Mukherjee, the president of India, has asked the Governors to look into faculty shortage issue at State Universities, and also look into improving the quality of research over there, at the 44th Conference of governors. Governors are ideally the Chancellors of state universities.

The President also stressed on the need to focus on innovation in state universities. The governors have responsibilities to instill a culture of innovation. He also stressed that education has to be employment oriented.

The President said India is a nation of young people and can reap the demographic dividend by providing proper education and skills.
