Kerala Government to setup Malayalam University

Kerala Government is planning to setup a Malayalam University in the state. Keral Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said while speaking to media.

THe new university will be named after Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan - who is know as Father of Malayalam

The university will focus on rich cultural heritage of Kerala state apart from study of linguistic, literature and cultural history, arts and music traditions.

    D. V. Sadananda Gowda, the Railway Minister has announced that a Railway University will be setup for Employees. The university will have technical as well as non-technical subjects. "I am contemplating setting up of a Railway University for both technical and non technical subjects," Gowda said. Railway University will provided summer internships for engineering and MBA students.

    The Union government has approved the proposal to set up 14 new Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT). As per the scheme, 50 to 100 crore of land will be provided free of cost by the concerned state government for setting up the IIITs. "Under the approved scheme of setting up 20 IIITs on a not-for-profit public-private partnership, the central government has given approval for establishment in 14 states," Minister of state for human resource development Shashi Tharoor said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

    Maharashtra Government decided to setup Technological university. This new university will be named Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical Sciences University, and will be headquartered at Lonare in Raigad district. This university will have four divisional centers: Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune and Aurangabad, and five sub-centers at Amravati, Nanded, Jalgaon, Kolhapur and Solapur.

    Dr Manmohan Singh, layed the foundation stone for Global Center for Nuclear Energy Partnership in Delhi. Global Nuclear Education Center will have five schools for research into advanced nuclear technology, training and education, international seminars, and courses. Subject areas will include nuclear energy systems, radiological safety, applications of radioisotopes and radiation technologies, and nuclear security.
