Srivari Chandrashekar selected for CNR Rao National Award

Dr. Srivari Chandrashekar, Head of Division of Natural Products at Hyderabad based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) has been shortlisted for coveted CNR Rao National Prize for Chemical Sciences for 2012-13.

Chandrashekar has been selected for his contributions in the field of total synthesis of natural products especially of marine origin, and also in developing ecologically-viable green technologies useful for industrial applications in the pharmaceutical sector.

He will be felicitated at the annual meeting of the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) to be held in February 2013 at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.

CRSI has instituted this award with support of former students and colleagues of Prof CNR Rao, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Scientific Advisory Committee.

Chandrashekar is a senior scientist with IICT, Hyderabad. He has produced 25 PhD students and published more than 200 papers in international journals. He is also a fellow of National Academy of Sciences.

Bhartiya Mahila Bank has announced the results of Probationary officers (PO) exam. Bhartiya Mahila Bank selected 194 students. Around 96 candidates are from General category, 51 are from OBC, 28 are from SC category and 19 are from ST category. The bank will soon be sending call letters to selected candidates. Selected candidates will have to unergo a 45 days training at locations decided later. Indian Music Talent Show organized in Sanskriti Group of Institutions

To provide an opportunity to the students to showcase their musical talent, a programme was organized at Sanskriti Campus on Sep. 24, 2013 courtesy Coca Cola and MTV. In fact, Sanskriti Group was one of the few colleges selected for this programme amongst many colleges of Agra – Mathura region.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University, popularly known as IGNOU, has launched a new online program Appreciation Programme on Sustainable Management of Biodiversity (APSMB) for July 2012 session. History channel partners with CBSE schools for promoting education and protection of heritage monuments in India. They will jointly present Heritage Quiz 2011. The selected candidates will take part in the grand finale organized at New Delhi. UNESCO will also take part in preparing some questions of the quiz. There will also be other conservation efforts like Heritage walks, Adopt a Monument, Poster making & Short Film Competitions. This move is sure to preserve and protect heritage monuments in the country.
