Dr. Srivari Chandrashekar, Head of Division of Natural Products at Hyderabad based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) has been shortlisted for coveted CNR Rao National Prize for Chemical Sciences for 2012-13.
Chandrashekar has been selected for his contributions in the field of total synthesis of natural products especially of marine origin, and also in developing ecologically-viable green technologies useful for industrial applications in the pharmaceutical sector.
He will be felicitated at the annual meeting of the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) to be held in February 2013 at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
CRSI has instituted this award with support of former students and colleagues of Prof CNR Rao, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Scientific Advisory Committee.
Chandrashekar is a senior scientist with IICT, Hyderabad. He has produced 25 PhD students and published more than 200 papers in international journals. He is also a fellow of National Academy of Sciences.
