NIT-Rourkela is the 5th best university in India

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela has been ranked 5th best university in India according to a survey conducted by Cybermetrics lab, a Spain based international research group. NIT, Rourkela ranks 1067th in the world.

"It is a matter of great pride and profound honour for the entire NIT family, faculty, staff, students and to all others who helped us in our efforts to achieve this prestigious position" he said.

The webmetric ranking of world universities is an initiative of the cybermetric lab, a research group belonging to the Consijo Superior de investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain, NIT sources said.

The award was conferred by Gujarat Technological University and Communication Multimedia and Infrastructure Association of India in Karaikal. Bhupendra Singh Chudasame, The Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Gujarat, presented the award to Dr Mrs S K Pandey, director, NIT-Py on July 19 at Ahmedabad.

    A three member team from Goa Institute of Management has qualified for the final Panaji 8thround in an international marketing competition involving 1800 student teams from 76 countries. The annual global marketing competition conducted by ESIC Business & Marketing School in Spain started in April this year. The 4 stage competition had 2 teams each from three regions: Asia-Oceania, Europe- Africa and America, qualifying for the finals. Goa Institute of Management and IIM Bangalore are the top two teams to qualify for the competition from the Asia-Oceania region.

    In a clear case of revolt against Kapil Sibal's decision to merge IIT Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) with All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), Indian Institute of (IIT) Kanpur has announced that it will conduct its own entrance exam in 2013. "The recent IIT Council proposal on admissions to IITs is academically and methodically unsound and in violation of the Institutes of Technology Act (1961) and IIT Kanpur Ordinances (Ordinance 3.2 (Admissions)," said the IIT Kanpur committee members.
