Researchers from prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) have received global PhD offers.

12 Research Associates (RAs) and Academic Associates (AAs) of the institution have received admission offers from high-quality PhD programmes abroad this year, according to Professor Sanjay Kallapur, Senior Associate Dean, Faculty Development.

"Beginning in 2005 we made a conscious effort to target our recruiting efforts to PhD aspirants. Some of our early recruits under that effort have done PhDs in Accounting and Finance at Wharton and UCLA respectively and have joined faculty positions in Duke and the University of New South Wales, Australia. Others are still in their PhD programmes in Finance at Kellogg and Strategy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill," said Kallapur.

"RAs and AAs come from good schools like IIT, IIIT, Delhi School of Economics, IGIDR, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, IIM and some of them even have their Post Graduate qualifications from schools abroad like Carnegie Mellon, University of Warwick etc. The school also plans to expand this programme to include bachelor’s degree holders in Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics from top colleges," he further added.

Each researcher works for a faculty member. In several cases it has resulted in publications co-authored with the faculty member. ISB started its own Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) last year and the RAs can apply to this programme too.

Professor Sanjay Kallapur said their researchers have pursued PhDs at top institutions like Arizona State University; Bocconi; University of California at Berkeley, Irvine, and Los Angeles campuses; Duke; Emory; The Fletcher School, Tufts University; HKUST; INSEAD; Kellogg; University College, London; Madrid University; University of Maryland; University of Michigan; University of Minnesota; New York University; Penn State University; U of Texas-Austin, and Wharton.
