The Banaras Hindu University holds an All India combined Competetive Written Test (PMT/PAT) for admission to MBBS/BAMS/BDS and B.Pharma course in June at Delhi, Varanasi, Calcutta, Chennai (Madras) and Nagpur centers.
The B.D.S. course is under self-financing scheme, subject to approval of Dental Council of India.
MBBS
Eligibility: Qualification: Passed Intermediate Science/Pre-Medical Course/12 year of 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimumof 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. Uttar Madhyama students of Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi are eligible only for BAMS Course . Candidates appearing at the afore mentioned qualifying examination could also apply (during 2000-1).
Age: MBBS/BAMS/BDS: Completed 17 years but have not crossed 25 years as on 31st December 2000 (Candidates born on or after Ist January 1984 need not apply) (This was for the academic session 2000-1)).
B.PHARMA.: As per JEE-2000, Date of birth not earlier than 1st October 1975 for general category candidates and 1st October 1970 for SC/ST candidates (session 2000-1).
Application Form: Prescribed application form along with the Information Booklet could be obtained -
By cash: On payment of Rs.500/- (including bank charges, postal charges and examination fees) (For 2000-2001 Session) from the following branches of The Benares State Bank Ltd from Monday 10-1-2000 to Monday 13-3-2000 during banking hours on working days. (a)VARANASI - Sankat Mochan Br., Lahurabir Br. And Nadesar Branch, (b)ALLAHABAD - Katra Branch. ( c) LUCKNOW : Cantt. Road Branch, (d)DELHI - Cannaught Place Br. And Daryaganj Branch.
By post: From the Office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi - 221005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque of Rs.500/- (For 2000-2001 Session), of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of "The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU" payable at Varanasi. The request application must have included the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed demand draft. It should also have been accompanied by two white paper self addressed slips of 10 cm x 6 cm size. The Envelope containing requisition for PMT/PAT application form and demand draft should have been superscribed "Request for Application for PMT/PAT-2000. BHU".
NOTE: (a) Separate Bank Draft was required for each application form. (b) M.O. /I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. ( c) Application forms from the Office of the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, could only be obtained by POST and not in person, (d) The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences/Bank does not take any responsibility for non-availibility of forms at the indicated branches of The Benares State Bank Ltd. (In such circumstances form could be obtained by post from Director's Office up to the last date)
Note: Foreign Nationals were not required to appear in the PMT/PAT examination. They may seek admission through respective Ministries of Government of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose. However, NRI-sponsored Indian Nationals (for BAMS course only) had to appear in the PMT/PAT examination
