Shambhu Dayal Post Graduate College, since its inception in the year 1962. I joined the college as the first principal on 1st July 1962 and retired on 30th June 1990. I must say that the college has grown & developed slowly & steadily keeping in mind the quality of teaching and creating conducive environment for academic excellence which could be possible only by appointing teachers of brilliant academic record and vast experience of teaching Post Graduate classes and pursuing research of high order. The college has been fortunate enough to have a Principal like Dr. B.S.Goyal, who obtained Full Bright Fellowship from U.S.A during his tenure as head of the English department and sent a message to other fellow colleagues for such academic endeavor. The present Principal Dr. Sukhbir Singh has been putting his heart & soul to make this college “a college with a difference”. He has taken keen interest in building up befitting infrastructure for pursuing quality learning, teaching & research. He himself has been an effective teacher, an able administrator & a distinguished academician. He has so far produced more than 20 Ph.D’s in History and ten research students are pursuing research under him at present. He added the Department of Bachelor of Education and brought permanent affiliation of Commerce Department. He is planning to raise B.Ed & B.Com departments to post graduate & research level. At present I am the Chairman of the Managing Committee of this college. I am not only pleased but have a sense of satisfaction that the college is making desirable progress under the dynamic supervision of the Principal Dr. Sukhbir Singh and the Secretary of the College Management Committee Sh. Rakesh Garg who has been serving this college with distinction since 1977. My association with S.D.College as principal for twenty eight years and as a chairman of the college management for the last 14 years gives me a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. I wish the college all success.
