The establishment of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University (NALSAR), University of Law, Hyderabad is a major new initiative in legal education in India. Its Founder Director is, Ranbir Singh
Law Ministers Working Group on Legal Education when it met in Bhubaneshwar in September 1995, expressed its deep concern as to the deteriorating standards in legal education and made certain recommendations. One of the most important was that there should be a law university, such as the National Law School in Bangalore, in each State which could serve as a model institution for other law colleges in the State. The Government of Andhra Pradesh accepted in principle the proposal to establish an institution of excellence in legal education in Hyderabad, The NALSAR University of Law thus came into existence in 1998.
The University has as its primary objective the creation of a generation of able competent and humane lawyers who will not only enter the Bar and Bench but will also be equipped to address effectively the imperatives of the new millennium. To achieve this the University will seek:
