Amrita School of Engineering was started in 2002 as “Amrita Institute of Technology & Science” with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the University of Kerala.Amritapuri Campus hosts four Schools: Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita School of Arts & Science, Amrita School of Biotechnology and Amrita School of Ayurveda. The campus is located adjacent to the international headquarters of Mata Amritanandamayi Math and is separated from it by the backwaters linking Kollam and Alapuzha.
