East West Institute of Technology(EWIT) came into existence in the year 2001, in the enviable garden city of Bangalore, as a jewel in the crown of East West Group of Institutions under the banner of Subramanya Educational Society established nearly four decades ago. This Society and its Group of Institutions are the dream projects of its Founder Chairman Sri C. M. Nagaraj. a visionary, an acknowledged educationist, a philanthropist, a social worker and an elected prominent corporator of long standing. It is in fitness of his abilities and achievements that he was elected as the worshipful Mayor of Bangalore city for the year 2002-2003. In a short span EWIT has made commendable progress- thanks to the committed and untiring efforts of its charismatic chairman Sri.C.M.Nagaraj, enthusiastic and dynamic Secretary with a clear vision Sri C.N.RaviKiran,optimistic, cheerful and ever active Joint secretary Sri C.N. ShashiKiran and its reputed workaholic Principal Dr. M.N Gundurao, an able academician and an administrator molded into one. In such a short period the institute has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 Certification from JAS-ANZ, a mark of quality of educational and infra-structural facilities, a distinction rarely awarded to any other Institution of similar age. EWIT is located off Magadi Road just 10km from the city centre. It is well connected with public/private transport facilities. The lush green vast campus of 20 acres, amidst sylvan surroundings and away from the maddening city hustle and bustle, tastefully landscaped with award winning gardens is decked with well governing council and aesthetically designed buildings that house spacious lecture halls, laboratories, workshops and library.

The East West Educational Institutions have been functioning for over three decades catering to the needs of quality and integrated system of Education. All the institutions are having their own Buildings and are centrally located. Campus- The campus is built on a lush green 20 acre of land with separate boys & girls hostel blocks, play ground, recreation room, health club etc. The East - West Institutions are presently located in the elite residential area of Rajajinagar IInd stage. Now they have started a college of Engineering by name "East West Institute of Technology" which operates from the new 20 acre campus off Magadi Road, 10KM form Bangalore Central Bus Station and Railway Station. East - West has introduced several undergraduate courses besides post graduate courses such as MCA, MBA, M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Sc. (Microbiology), etc. These courses are affiliated to Bangalore University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi.
The Engineering courses introduced under the affiliation to the Visveswaraiah Technological University include BE courses in Computer Science, Information Science and Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering. All courses are provided with the necessary infrastructure as per the requirements of the Universities and AICTE - such as well equipped labs, Air Conditioned Computer Room, spacious library, Seminar Hall, Auditorium, separate hostels for girls and boys.

The governance structure of East West Institute of Technology is parliamentary in nature. Major decisions affecting the faculty and the academic programs must be approved by the faculty as a whole. Such issues are often first considered and debated by the faculty council, an elected representative group of the faculty.The administrative work of the university is mostly carried out by the administrative staff. There are many areas of effort where input is needed from faculty and instructional staff to ensure the proper functioning of the university. To meet these needs, a system of standing committees exists. The Office of the Provost coordinates appointments to these committees and also maintains the records of who is currently serving on these committees, what their charge is, and keeps records of their minutes.
