Every great event, it has been well said, brings one absolute new thing into the world. Such an event was the starting of the K.L.E. Society in 1916 by seven dedicated teachers and three generous patrons. Their mission was to provide education, basically , to the children of the farming community who constitute a significant majority in Karnataka. Though modest and unadvertised was their act, yet it created a sensation in the educational history of this region. The environment today is totally different from the one in 1916, yet , the mission of the founders of K.L.E. Society is pursued with the same zeal even after 94 years in the fulfillment of the vision of providing education to the needy in all spheres of human knowledge.
With a strong net-work of over 211 educational institutions spread in Karnataka, part of Maharashtra and even in Delhi, the K.L.E. Spciety enjoys an unrivalled status in India, especially in the South. To advance the cause of education , the society has employed over 6,000 men and women committed to academic excellence, and has over 71,883 students on its roll and Rs. 5 billion in assets. Obviously, the K.L.E. Society, today, stands second to none. The rush for admissions to all classes and courses right from the K.G. to P.G., in professional as well as traditional streams of learning speaks of the high standard that the K.L.E. Society has set over the years.In the functioning of the K.L.E.Society, the true spirit of democracy runs. The management of the society is effectively and ably carried out by the Chairman of the Board of Management consisting of 15 members duly elected as per the constitutional provisions of the society. The president and the Vice-Presidents guide the Chairman while the Life Members frame academic guidelines. The financial transparency is maintained through regular audit system.
If Lingaraj College speaks of the glory and rich heritage of the K.L.E. Society, its technological institutions overshadow that rich and varied heritage. While international renowned J.N.Medical College brings the name and fame of the Society back in the limelight by the quality track record that it has set overseas, infrastructural far- superior, ultra-modern, multi-specialty 1,000 bed hospital and M.R.C. Belgaum, adds to it. With right approach and a long perspective, Chairman Shri Prabhakar Kore and his team have set a new tradition that 'nothing beats quality'.
