Goa Institute of Management

The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) is one of the premier Business schools in India. GIM is committed to providing an environment that allows each individual to discover his/her own potential. The emphasis in GIM is on learning, not on being taught, on working effectively as a team and on equipping ones self with a sound knowledge base that enables informed decision making. The Goa Institute of Management is established through the initiative and support of some prominent citizens and industrialists and with the encouragement of the Government of Goa, as a centre of excellence in management education. It's purpose is to train professional managers for the corporate sector and their public system. The institute is registered as a trust under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It's management and control vests with the Board of Governors constituted and functioning in accordance with the rules and Regulations of the association. The Board of Trustees includes prominent citizens, leaders of industry, and a representative of the Government of Goa, and has the powers to determine and guide the Institute's policies. The Director is appointed by the Board of Governors and is accountable to the Chairperson and to the Board. Location The Campus of the Goa Institute of Management is conveniently located on the bank of then river Mandovi about five kilometers from the state capital Panaji, and midway between the city and the historical Old Goa. the densely wooed hill which forms the part of the Institute's campus helps keep the air fresh and clean. Goa's industrial areas are within easy reach and make it possible for students to complement their classroom learning with project work done in industrial and organisational setting Goa's easy access to Mumbai and and Bangalore enables the Institute to draw expert visiting faculty from these cities. Contrary to popular perception about Goa, we have a fair number of industrial facilities in this State set up by multinational and Indian companies. their ready cooperation with the Institute enables us to give a practical orientation to our learning. The student/industry ratio in Goa offers our students opportunities to do a variety of projects to enhance their learning. National Recognised The Goa Institute of Management is approved by the All India Council of Technical Education of the Government of India for offering postgraduate courses in management at the MBA level. It is also recognised by the Government of Goa and by many of the major Industrial Corporations in the country, some of which are represented on our Board1 of Governors. Recognition of our courses is being sought from the Association of Indian Universities. In the seven years since its inception, GIM has come to be widely known as centre of excellence in management education. The Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Goa University that provides for the sharing of resources including faculty expertise and library facilities between the department of Management Studies of the Goa University and the Institute. Students who qualify to register in the Goa University's doctoral programme in management may choose to pursue their research at GIM under the guidance of our faculty.
