Eligibility for PET examination
The candidates holding recognized Master’s degree or recognized equivalent to Master’s degree with 50% or equivalent grades(without grace marks or rounding off) are eligible to appear in this examination; where the subject vacancies are mentioned.

Exemption
The candidates who have qualified in national/ state level competitive examination such as UGC-CSIR/NET/SET/GATE /DBT/ICMR/,JRF and also M.Phil degree holder are exempted from appearing in PET examination.

Validity
On qualifying the PET examination the candidate can enroll himself/herself for Ph.D within a period of two years from the date of declaration of the result.

Enrollment and Registration for Ph.D.
After qualifying the PET Examination (including Personality Test), the enrollment and registration will be done as per our University Ph.D. Ordinances.

Examination Fee
General / OBC Candidates : Rs.1500/-
SC/ST/PH/VH candidates : Rs.1000/-

Structure of the Test
Part-A- General Aptitude (Multiple choice questions)

There shall be 35 questions; all are compulsory and each question carries Two marks. The medium of examination will be in English only.

Part-B- Discipline wise (Multiple choice questions)
There shall be 50 questions, all are compulsory and each question carries Two marks. The medium of examination shall be in English only, except in the test for language subjects other than English.

The syllabus for the various disciplines wise is as follows. It is generally the UGC/ CSIR (NET) syllabus for all science and social sciences subject including Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Social works, Pharmacy and Management. For Technology and Engineering the Master’s Degree (M.E.) syllabus of respective subjects of our University will be considered.

Use of Programmable Scientific Calculator for Part-B is not allowed.

Standard for qualifying the test
The negative marking at the rate of 25% for each wrong answer in the examination will be deducted. The candidates who score 50% in each Part A (35 Marks) & B (50 Marks); and aggregate of 60 %.( Marks 102 out of 170), will be eligible for the Personality Test.

Part-C- Personality Test
The candidates who have qualified in written test shall appear for the personality test which shall be conducted by the concerned Department/ faculty/ Institute; as the case may be. For this purpose department/ faculty/ Institute wise Personality Test Committee will be formed with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor. The composition of the Personality Test Committee consists of Dean of the Faculty (chairman), The Head of the Department, Chairman of the Board of Study, two senior professors of department, and one professor from other department of the same faculty. If the required number of professors are not available in the concerned department, they may co-opt from other departments or from other faculty, with the prior approval of the Vice Chancellor. The personality test shall be arranged for all the candidates on the same date; and the result has to be sent to the university along with the merit list.

Examination Schedule
The PET examination will be conducted on Sunday, 10th February 2013. The time will be 12.00 noon to 02.00 pm.

Important Dates
* The online application form can be submitted from 27th December 2012 to 23rd January 2013. To avoid last minute rush, please apply early.
* The Ph. D Entrance Test (PET) examination will be conducted on Sunday, 10th February 2013.
