General eligibility for admission to Ph.D is one of the following in appropriate areas:
1) First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) or equivalent Master's Degree in Engineering /Technology or
2) A First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) Master's degree in Science or a first class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology.
Candidates meeting this requirement must also fulfill one of the following additional requirements:
Valid GATE score or CSIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT award and Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience.

Candidate can download the application form from the website and submit the duly filled in application form along with application fee of Rs. 300/ for GN/OBCNC/PC category (belonging to GN category) (150/ for SC/ST/PC belonging to SC/ST category) to Deputy Registrar,(Academic), IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai–400 076.
Candidates can also submit their applications online along with the application fee to be paid by Debit Card/ Credit Card/SBI Internet Banking/Online Payment System/Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'Registrar, IIT Bombay' payable at SBI or Canara Bank, IIT Powai/Mumbai branch.
Candidates applying for Ph.D. Programme can give preference for three Departments / Inter-disciplinary groups / Centres / School in one application form.
The duly filled application form along with the necessary enclosures and the demand draft (of the required amount) is to be sent in a big size envelope (27cm X 20cm), without folding superscribing on the top 'Application form for Ph.D. Programme', to the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai, Mumbai – 400 076.
Last date for submission of completed application forms is October 29, 2010.
