The students of Automobile Engineering, DTU (formerly Delhi College of Engineering) will be organizing their technical fest- THROTTLE during 21st-24th of February this year. This will be a three days affair including events like Auto Quiz, Automobile Conclave and many others.
The aim of the fest is to hone the skills of students in the automotive sector specifically. It shall build on their interest and provide them with a platform to convert their theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Automobile is one of the most emerging sectors today. It has immense scope of expansion and innovation. From zero emission to highly efficient to cost effective vehicles, the opportunities before us are numerous. What really needs to done is realizing and making best of these opportunities. And the best way to do so is start young and from grass root level. The sphere of influence of this field is vast and also untapped. And this is what this fest intends to achieve.
Events
MECHANICA, Motorbike Assembling
- Love the thrill of motorbikes? Think you know the parts well enough? Then put together the tires, fill the coolant and go vroom! Combining fun and practical knowledge is what Mechanica is all about.
AUTOHOLICS, The Auto Quiz
Think you know all there is to know about automobiles? Prove it. In an event with competition from all over the country, you're knowledge will be put to the ultimate test. All those days spent watching Top Gear and Supercars or reading Autocar, Overdrive, Car India, andwww.howstuffworks.com etc, its all going to come in handy.
BLAZE, Laser Show
Entertainment lovers will have quite a heavy meal on their plate when they are served with a large buffet of entertainment variety on Deltech Automotive Fest, THROTTLE, 2011 at Delhi Technological University in an exciting show dubbed 'Fast & Furious Night'. Modified cars and bikes will be on display in an exciting event that will be our grand finale
Fast and the Furious, Modified Cars Show- Entertainment lovers will have quite a heavy meal on their plate when they are served with a large buffet of entertainment variety on Deltech Automotive Fest, THROTTLE, 2011 at Delhi Technological University in an exciting show dubbed 'Fast & Furious Night'. Modified cars and bikes will be on display in an exciting event that will be our grand finale
TENACITY, Impact Testing- All teams will be provided with raw materials from which they'll will have to design a chassis in the allotted time. Once the assembly is complete the chassis will be made to take an impact test. The team which manages to come up with the design which is most durable will be declared the winner.
Viel-d-weil , Body art on Sheet Metal- This event is about having fun with spray paint. All that is required from the teams is to run amok with their imagination and come up with the funkiest ideas for the body art on their cars. We provide them with sheet metal in shape of a car body and spray paint cans and rest we leave it to them.
GREASE MONKEYS- Are you the one who always admired grease and dirt and went looking for a reason to get your hands dirty? It seems like you finally got lucky. This event is especially designed for all you auto freaks out there who firmly believe in the ad-world cliché:
“DAAG ACHHE HAIN”
You will be provided with a chain and sprocket and other necessary tools and will be asked to prepare a running model of a vehicle in the given time limit. The one with the best model wins.
Does this sound a little too incredulous to you? Don’t worry; we are there to help you. We will be holding workshop in the university premises before the event to tell you all that you should know.
So buckle up guys as this is the opportunity you were always looking for. Give your theoretical knowledge a practical shape and be a part of this enthralling event.

GEARHEAD - An IC Engine Powered Small Car making
- For all the auto whizkids, this event is sure to be a delightful proposition. Perhaps be the most technically challenging event. The event shall have two parts.
1) Contestants shall be provided with a small 4cc engine, tubes, wiring, tyres, wheels etc. and will be taught in a workshop on how to make a remote controlled car.
2) Remote Controlled Car racing, good old days are back. Say hello to your childhood self, race to your heart's content on a dirt track.
GOsloth, The slow Biking
- Not a speed racer? Not a problem. We've all heard how the tortoise wins the race. This event is for the slow and steady tortoises amongst us. It is designed to show your control over that throttle, and how well you can hold your horses. Last to finish, first to the medal.
