All India Bar Examination (AIBE)
The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is to examine an advocate’s capability to practice the profession of law in India. The AIBE will assess skills at a basic level, and is intended to set a minimum benchmark for admission to the practice of law; it addresses a candidate’s analytical abilities and understanding basic knowledge of law. After passing the examination candidate will be awarded “Certificate of Practice” by the Bar Council of India.
AIBE will be conducted in 140 centers in 50 cities all across India. Candidates will have 11 languages to choose for attempting the examination. Examination pattern will be multiple choice questions and it will be an open book exam.
The notification bringing the All India Bar Examination into force was passed by the Legal Education Committee and the members of the Bar Council of India.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria required to appear in AIBE are mentioned below.
- Candidate must be India citizen.
- Candidate has to qualify their LLB Degree (either 3 years or 5 Years).
- Candidate has to be registered as an advocate professional with any State Bar Council.
- Candidates have to submit the suitable proof of the enrollment.
- There is no limit to appear for the All India Bar Examination.

Exam Pattern
- Mode of Exam – Offline pen and paper mode as an open book exam
- Number of Sections – 2 sections
- Type of Question – Multiple Choices Questions
- Duration – 3 hrs and 30 mins
- Total No. of Questions – 100 Questions
- Total No. of Marks – 100 Marks
- Laguage – 11 languages. (Bengali, Gujarati, Odia, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Telugu.)
- Passing Marks – Candidates need to secure at least 40 marks in the AIBE 2021 exam.
Candidates have a choice of 11 languages to attempt the examination in their preferred language. AIBE (XIII) will be an open book exam. It means that candidates can bring any study aid or reading material like as textbooks and treatises, AIBE Preparatory Materials, and even handwritten notes. The question paper will be composed of 100 multiple choice questions spread across various subjects. There is no negative marking. The questions asked in the examination will be divided into ‘knowledge-based’ and ‘reasoning based’. The time duration of the examination is maximum 3 hours 30 minutes.
The examination will be divided into two categories (I and II).The Examination paper will comprise at least seven (7) questions from each ‘Category I’ subject. The paper will also have twenty-three (23) questions from the ‘Category II’ subjects as a whole, and these twenty-three questions will include questions from at least five (5) Category II subjects. Category I subjects will be tested in Part I of the question paper, and Category II subjects will be tested in Part II of the question paper. How to Apply
- Fill up your Personal, Educational and other Information on this link then click Finish Button
- Registration Number and Password of your Account is generated and will be sent back to your e-mail ID
- Now click ‘Login button on AIBE Site and enter your Registration Number and Password. Then get printout of your Challan Copy
- Deposit Fee only on the said printed challan at any branch of SBI after 24 hrs. of registration
- After 24 hrs again Login to your account and take a print of the application form, written down Journal number provided by SBI on it send its hard copy along with requisite documents at BCI
- Complete the application form and send it to “All India Bar Examination” Bar Council of India, 21 Rouse Avenue Institutional Area, ITO, Near Bal Bhawan New Delhi-110002
Cutoff
The BCI has determined cutoff of AIBE XIII (13) 2022 after the declaration of the results of AIBE XIII 2022. Based on the AIBE 2022 Cutoff XIII, the candidates can be considered pass or fail the All Indian Bar Examination. If a AIBE XIII test taker meets the cutoff of of AIBE 2022, he/she will considered pass and will be awarded the ‘Certificate of Practice’ by the Bar Council of India.
