Jawahar Lal Nehru in consultation with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, was established in 1967 with a view to educating the youths of Tibet and Himalyan border students of India. In the beginning it functioned as a special constituent wing of Sampurnananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi. Thereafter the government of India reviewed the progress of the Institute and decided to accord it a status of an autonomous body under the Department of Culture, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India in 1977 with 100% financial support from the Govt. of India.
Central Institute for Research on Goats- The Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bereilly, opened a center after taking charge of "Bull Rearing Farm", Makhdoom, Mathura from Dept. of Animal Husbandry, Uttar Pradesh State in Dec. 1976. Subsequently, on 12th July 1979, it was given status of 'National Goat Research Center'. During 1981, the Center was awarded national status by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and was named as 'Central Institute for Research on Goats'.
Reseach Institute- Central Drug Reseach Institute (CDRI) is one of the fourty laboratories under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, an autonomous registered society of the federal government. Though established in 1947, it was formally inaugurated on 17th February 1951. CDRI is an institute dedicated to drug research. It possesses state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure. The institute is a multi-disciplinary research laboratory with seventeen research and development divisions, nine technical services/divisions, three national facilities, two data stations and one field centre.
CBI Academy- The CBI Academy, Ghaziabad started functioning on 10.1.1996. It caters to the training requirements of all ranks of CBI from Constable upwards. In addition, training facilities are also made available to the State Police Officers and vigilance organisations of Public Sector Undertakings, banks and Government Departments for certain specialized courses.
ASIAN ACADEMY OF FILM & TELEVISION- Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) is the premier institution of its kind in the private sector of India.
